Ion and his boundless imagination... sigh...

I mean, this is the exact reason they stated they couldn't do an Emerald Dream expansion - zone after zone of green wouldn't be appealing. Zone after zone of purple likely isn't appealing either, but that doesn't mean it has to be that. You could incorporate all sorts of things to vary it up.

Yogg too though, being the god of death and all that.

Also that all the Old Gods don’t die like normal beings lol.
    Unless you're C'thun and gets absolutely destroyed by Me'dan because "F*ck you, it's Me'dan."

As for me, I'm just done with N'zoth and how people hype him up as this ultimate evil even though he's the weakest of the Old Gods. We kamehameha'd him into oblivion, so I don't think he'd make a return...

If anything, that hint from the Chromie quest implies more like that he's prepared a contingency plan after his death.. but I doubt it's something to bring him back from death.

I think what they said was not that a full Old God expansion couldnt work, but rather that a full Ny'alotha/Black Empire expansion couldnt work. Same with other specifically themed locations like Argus and the Emerald Dream, and in hindsight the Shadowlands.

He’s also been described as the smartest and most dangerous Old God. Weakest, but most clever. Contingency plan to come back, or to destroy us even after his death? Hmmm…

Im glad Me’dan is not in the games/canon and I hope it stays that way also lol.

Hm, there might be some truth to that, but then on the other hand you might equally have "normal setting" fatigue too, as you can see with people complaining about the Avaloren zones looking so basic and similar to Dragonflight.

Maybe they'll change their mind after a year of being stuck in verdant green Emerald Dream...
A large part of Warcraft's storytelling strength comes from it's diversity of cultures.
This is my please: not to westernize or modernize every single playable race and culture in Warcraft.

If Old Gods feature prominently, I hope they make them actually menacing and dangerous, a serious threat. Not "mwahahaha" and easily killed. Bring back some of that "Varian just got disintegrated! WTH?"

I'm thinking like "I will SHOW YOU our kingdom!" and then collapses half of AZeroth to show how infected the planet really is.

But the Shadowlands worked lol. The problem wasn't the zones or their "lack" of themes, the problem was butchered "features" like Torghast, the initial shitty Covenant system aswell as the patch drought.

Similary, WoD's problem wasn't Draenor or that it was an alternate universe expansion, but the lack of atleast one major patch.

In regards to the MMO-C discussion a couple pages back... I generally enjoyed Battle For Azeroth, only really hated Shadowlands' patch cadence, and think Dragonflight is a great expansion. I don't hate Danuser, either, at all. It has become evident I am not the sort of person who frequents this space. That's why I am only here during leak season, because these topics are the singularly best place online for that. Once BlizzCon is over, it's another step away for another two years.

Shadowlands wasn’t the same idea though, they’re saying that you can’t have a whole expansion/continent themed the same, like Emerald Dream everywhere or Black Empire everywhere. Shadowlands had 5 very visually distinct places to go. If they all looked like the Maw, wow would have ended.

Edit: sorry, I misunderstood what you were replying to. I get it now :P take backsies lol.

I remember first time leveling in Maldraxxus after Bastion felt like pulling out the tooth. Everything is green, goo and bones. Terrible experience.
In retrospective, i would have never want to level an alt in Shadowlands. Maybe Bastion occasionally, its wheat vast plains and serene music were nice.

I hope in 30 minutes they will post Trading Post blue post.

I felt similarly based on my initial reactions to the scenery, but I actually enjoyed the story in that zone more than all the others.

i agree 100%. but that’s not the same as above guy said.

there was no problem and a huge chance, to dig deeper in Nazjatar and find Nzoth in a deep cave zone, styled like Zaralek or Stormheim. Or at least a better transition into Nzoth patch.

    cave zone != water zone

good telling of a whole/complete/wellrounded story does NOT imply to play a whole xpac in the same theme.

One of Shadowlands biggest issues is the zones were too uniform. No variety inside zones.

    Honestly, no not really.

Right now, this is great imo, sure I love a real leak, but right now we go in pretty much empty handed. The surprise will be max. Unless its boring Avaloren and a real leak has already been given. No way to know yet ofc.
