No they are an experimental race made in Abberus mixing dragon and mortal essence to create the ultimate soldier. They are a dragon hybrid race.

By that I mean, are the nightborne the way you wanted them to be? My personal answer to that is no. The nightborne animations and posture are so much worse than night elves.

Would much rather transform into a full on drake or something, and have any race as the option for Visage form.

The problem with that idea is you just dustbin every other race. Why should anyone play an Orc or a Human etc if you can just be an Orc/Human visaged dragon.

Actually that's a very good point.

Could be that they do the pandaren thing again. The "Algari" that join the Alliance would be a specific faction or group of them that isn't part or/speaks for the whole of the main body of their race.

I swear I remember reading a dev interview where they basically said as much. Iirc the take away on them was that they were just as much work as full races and they felt that it was a fun experiment but couldn't see themselves devoting that many resources to something that can't be used to sell expansions and had such a hefty buy in with the unlock requirements. I'll try and see if I can find it but I'm not invested enough to try that hard.

Yeah, the whole customization debacle that happened with them in SL was a sight to behold. Not to mention if they'd ever want to do any kind of racial content, they're either adding a whopping 10 new races to their workload, or (more realistically) have to integrate them with their closest core race counterparts, which is still going to make you feel like the unwanted child.

It’s the other way around. In one of the interviews blizzard said they made Evoker because it felt weird with them starting as existing classes.

This is a bit like saying "why play a human when you can be a worgen" though. Worgen having a human visage form certainly doesn't make them more popular than regular humans

Yeah and its pretty obvious given how much customization was planned for it originally...its really a shame they didnt iterate on it.

Current private servers go way beyond that. The first part is true however Bizzard also has way more resources available...the excuse that "housing wouldnt work in the wow engine" was nonsense and Ion basically admitted that when he said that "it would cost a raid tier".

the housing wouldn't work in the WoW engine thing is from earlier in the games history. I'm not saying that it wouldn't work now but housing was something they wanted in the initial launch and continued trying for a few years after that but they just couldn't get it to work so they shelved it. It turned into Garrisons as a halfway point but those had such an icy reception that they most likely either permanently shelved the idea to instead focus on thing's like Class Halls/Covenants or they dusted it back off and have been putting work into it.

Put it this way I would never be surprised if it got announced as a feature but also I don't expect it to ever be added to WoW.

Yep, no matter how easy they may seem to the players it's still 20 new models they had to make sure work with everything else while still not counting as a sellable feature because you had to be playing for months to unlock even one at the time. It's a cool concept but I don't see it as something that could possibly be worth the time/effort from Blizzs pov.

It's only a bit like that but it's only one combination. Again the way presented if you could be any race + fly around as a dragon, or not if you wish, why bother being the base races.

That "leak" feels about as real as "Tinkers can only be goblins and gnomes because I say so!".

For me, I am really curious on the expansion. So far there has not been a leak that sounds interesting or trustworthy (Yes, including the screenshots). Ofcourse that doesn't say much, not many people believed (including me) that the BFA/SL/DF leaks were real either haha
