For them to go ahead and announce 3 expansion at once kind of makes me feel like they're going to have fewer patches and jumping from one expansion to the next more often.

They didn't really announce three expansions but one and the narrative themes of the following two. Showing they have a story roadmap isn't really a means to expect less or more, shorter or longer expansions yet.

why are people "hyped"?

Speaking as someone who hasn't subbed to wow in years and only played beta test and the ptr?

Because the zones look cool, the story sounds interesting and we actually get evergreen systems. Some of which the game desperately needs.
We got loads more customaization options with the mini specs, we have the warband which will make the game more alt friendly, and delves can be an evergreen solo content.

Would I have been more happier with housing, a full old world revamp, playable naga or a full new class? Yes. Am I still hyped for the Worldoul Saga? Also yes.

Economically it can be quite huge, which again may lead to quicker advancement. Massive advantage? No, but it is an advantage.

I think people are overstating things; three days of farming herbs isn't going to make a lick of difference in the long run

There's a Japanese novel series with an arachne girl. We could have a playable insect soon. I never thought the first Light Novel/Anime type race we would be able to play as would be insects but...

Super early impressions of it all:

+ Love the concept of the World Soul Saga, great to see them innovate their storytelling

+ Love the zones we've seen

+ Love the features we've seen, especially Warbands, Hero Talents, and Delves

- It might feel a little lame to know what's coming in 12.0 and 13.0, because in a way it limits our scope of possibilities for the next few years. But this will depend on how long each expansion runs for.

- Sad about no Classic+.

- Sad about no World Revamp.

- Cautious about being underground for 1+ years. It might not be too bad, because zones look great. But we'll see. I might miss normal biomes.

I am very optimistic though. Tomorrow, I'm hoping to see more on:

> Potential class/race combos, heritage armour sets, and other features we all like to see continue expanding.

> Remaining patch content for Dragonflight.

TBF Season of Discovery is about as close to a Classic+ as you can feasibly get without having to spin up an entire massive dev team.

I don't think it's a big deal at all in the grand scheme of an expansion. Just stating what effect I'm pretty certain it will have. I'm honestly not bothered by it much if at all, but I do get why some would be bothered.
