Indeed. Gonna be an interesting story for sure.

Leak season is officially dead until 14.0

    I couldn't be happier.

    > Worldsoul Saga is cool, but if you look at the tangible news we got, we don't really know more about the future than we usually do after an expansion announcement. This didn't "change Warcraft" or whatever. It might end up changing Warcraft 3-4 years from now, but it doesn't feel like I've been overwhelmed by groundbreaking changes. Azeroth hasn't changed for me. In fact, I'm not even sure how they're capitalising on the anniversary thing. Chris mentioned it, but the expansion we're actually getting in 2024 is pretty standard by the looks of things, even if it's part of a greater whole. Perhaps showing us more from 12.0 and 13.0 would've helped, so we'd understand their grand vision?

    > HS expansion came a week ago, and is more of the same. Nice, not earth shattering.

    > Rumble is cool, I guess.

    > HotS still dead.

    > Nothing about consoles, Game Pass, etc. (Although it was nice seeing Phil Spencer.)

I have to disagree. The way the World soul Saga was announced, hinting at annual expansions, is to me intriguing enough news that it warrants the extra hype.
The world revamp dream will never die!

Chris said "the Old World" but that could mean, just, older locations gradually reworked.

War Within seems very much in the concept stage still. I find that kind of shocking.

    Diablo 4 season info
Classic new season with even more ideas.

Let's think about this another way. Say it's the past, right? Chances are it'd be quite a while in the past, right? Then why would they be scattered if the Sunwell was formed? As far as we know, it was always the Quel'dorei living in Quel'thalas, after the Sunwell was formed. And the Void are coming for the Sunwell. So the Elves would not be scattered.

Now, obviously they could make up some lore to make this work, but I'm pretty dang sure they're gonna be integrating Quel'thalas with the main world and updating it for this. Maybe even the Plaguelands.

I could be wrong, but I think they won't do a second time travel expansion.

But what was that about elf tribes? There are no elf tribes in modern Warcraft.

Metzen said about Midnight "In this chapter, you will be returning to the old world. To the fabled lands of Quel'Thalas. There, the forces of the Void have invaded Azeroth intent on snuffing out the light of the Sunwell and plunging the world into darkness and fear. You will not only help reunify the scattered elven tribes of Azeroth but you will make your stand with the forces of the light and banish the shadow forever."

My understanding was wrong, thank god no time travel! sorry about the confusion

The visions Azeroth is giving everyone are called the Radiant Song.

Thread moving quickly, sorry if it's already been pointed out.

Chris said we'd return to "the old world" which is just shorthand players have always used for Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and other zones.

There is absolutely no indication of any time travel being involved. The void is invading present day Quel'thalas in Midnight and that will be rebuilt as the new "continent" for that expansion.

Season of Discovery honestly looks so fun. They can do so many things with it. Can't wait to visit the crypts.

It's a virtual guarantee Microsoft will want to use the warcraft and StarCraft IPs to do some RTS games imo. They still believe in the genre

I think he meant reuniting ren'dorei, quel'dorei and sin'dorei, perhaps nightborne and kaldorei too!

That leaves a quick fated season from like May to August.

Apart from WoW everyone else got nothing. OW got a hero everyone expected and that's it. HS will get a new mode which I guess is OK. D4 they had very little to show. Starcraft stays dead, Odyssey is MIA, no cross media promotions. Yes, WoW got a lot for both retail and classic but the company itself did not have that much to show outside one IP.

I think Metzen said tribes because A) Metzen and B) the Night Elves don't have a formal kingdom

To me annual expansions means 'pay more frequently for less'. The way Metzen pitched made expansions sound more like patches, with story focused on a few zones and one theme. Except they are not free. And announcement made WoW feel like Destiny 2, with its thematic expansions. Which devalues the game's look.

Oh an also its not F2P.
