Midnight 12.X Patches & World Soul Saga Speculation Thread

I hope season 4 has some craziness added to if for fun and its not just running same raids with mostly same loadouts. Like allow a 3rd embelishment, add something akin to corruptions (S4 of BfA is still my favorite season cuz of all the fun and craziness with it even if you didn't get your bis stuff immediately).
If its gonna be a reuse season at least let us go crazy since there is no RWF that it will affect.
3rd Embelish + upgraded annulet could be nice too.

So then you must think that Blizzard is the most tone-deaf company imaginable, which I don't necessarily disagree with.

After milking the patch mystery for so long, people rightfully expect something more complex than some random filler questline that nobody cares about.

Say, a proto version of Housing with instanced Pirate coves, to see how Housing could be implemented into the future, a first step towards Housing, would already be a feature that warrants all the milking mystery of this patch.

That's too much expectation for minor patch.

In my opinion if they had to add something this patch that would be a big surprise, it would be cross faction random queue and open world questing. Housing seems to be an expansion tier feature, not a minor patch feature.

But after all, things like LFG, transmog and battlegrounds were patch content so maybe I'm wrong.

The best thing we could see in this patch would be more class / race combo so all the vanilla classes are unlocked for all races.

I'm saying a proto version of Housing, like the MoP farm was an attempt at a proto version of the WoD Garrison.

This patch specifically would be the perfect opportunity to do this because you can either have instanced ship in the ocean or an instanced small island in the ocean. From there they can figure out how to put housing in the world itself.

We're not even sure this whole thing is going to be pirate themed. And since we had DF epilogues, we already know that anything released after 10.2.5 will be World Soul saga related. So my safest guess would be to say that 10.2.6 will only be a way to introduce the Nightsquall in game, as he's probably going to be the guy who guides us to TWW's continent if this patch is pirate themed.

There's definitely something fishy with their absence of teasing, but it could range from any character customization (like a surprise allied race) to any feature-related content. Considering the memeing and various influencer coverage Ybaras no pirates tweet got, it's no surprise they've put it on the road map as a jolly Rodger. Big patch or not it's drove the hype up. Keeping my expectations low, in the hopes that I may possibly be pleasantly surprised.

I remember back in 10.0.1 discussions discussing how each major flight in DF at least deserves a patch to themselves to go into their specific storylines, and back then guessing 10.2 would be emerald dream and green DF focused, I'd be incredibly disapointed if reds got nothing. Low and behold, it's what they've got.

Keep the expectations low and if and when they surpass them it's all that sweeter.

You say that, but SL Season 4 was the season that introduced the concept of old dungeons in the main rotation, rather than old M+ dungeons being a feature solely contained in Legion Timewalking.
The dungeons being a mix of old and new is obviously already in the game, so you can't do that. But you could do something similar with Timewalking raids being made into some sort of endgame progression for late into a PvE season when you need something new to spice things up.

Tbf, I wouldn't be surprise to get the actual red story with TLT. The whole Tyr reforging was quite personal to Alex, so I guess that's when we get its conclusion, one way or the other.

The only legacy dungeon that I would think is possible is Siege of Orgrimmar (which has been referenced a few times by dataminers).

Doesn't have to revolve around Tyr, it could be similar to the Blue Flight's story only this time they put a heavier emphasis on the aspect of Life and Death. Especially when the realization that through-out the entirety of WoW, Alexstraza has seen and witnessed so many friends and loved ones die right in front of her, either because they sacrificed themselves, were turned evil and crazy, or became victims.. So the story should focus on Alexstraza coming to terms in why she's still standing, and question herself and her faith in the Titans.

the war within - war of feelings within, I feel like we're going to get a lot of family feelings and self-flagellation from a lot of characters. I already see how all the cinematics are 4-5 minutes of words and sad faces without action. I want to hear the drums of war in this game again, I don't want sad faces anymore... stop

I’d be surprised if Oda didn’t have any editors or assistants, but I also don’t care to check.

What’s more certain though is that one piece is no where near the size of wow which has like a thousand quest per expan as well as a ton of novels.

Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if just classic and the novels before 2006 has a higher word count then all of one piece.

What's that, 6-7 books? Very rough estimates put that a quarter of One Piece (7 x 80,000 words vs. 2 million for One Piece - 1.7 million as of a year ago from Google). And there's what 23 WoW books, so it's already looking like One Piece has more word count than all of WoW's books. There are 30 Warcraft books and that's barely more than One Piece at these estimates, like a month or two ahead.


Ignore 80% of quests because they are truly meaningless. Factor in the massive retcons and betrayal of lore and characters and I don't think my original statement is inaccurate. Retcons and inconsistencies reduce the world, not grow it (e.g. Jailer did it).

To get a sense of things, compare Warcraft to MTG novels 30 vs 80 over roughly the same time period. Oda can't compete with that.

Retcons are not a problem if they actually improve a story (which, all of Shadowlands retcons did since they fixed the bullshit that was Afriasiabis' "BfA"). Even GRRM does it (the black Valyrians in HotD which are canon to the books now).
