I think people are jumping to conclusions with regarding the Last Titan.

If i remember correctly, Metzen said something along the lines of, 'We will return to Northrend to witness the return of the Titans to Azeroth at Ulduar'.

I think this just means a huge cinematic moment in Ulduar, not necessarily an entire revamp of Northrend.

Good think they cleared everything up in a Post-Blizzcon interview, and it's exactly a revamp of Northrend (to what extent is beyond the point):

Clearing up any misconceptions - there's no time travel in Midnight/The Last Titan. We recently healed the timeways in Dawn of the Infinite and have no reason to revisit that anytime soon. When Metzen said returning to the Old World, he meant seeing how familiar lands have changed and telling new stories within them. They want to ensure that future WoW storytelling keeps iconic settings relevant - we told the story of Northrend and the Lich King 15 years ago, keeping it stale and unchanging doesn't really benefit the Warcraft universe. So yes, we will be returning to the lands of Silvermoon, Quel'Thalas, and later Northrend - we'll see how they've changed over time, expand, and reimagine them, but there's no time travel, only moving forward. Those older spaces will also be updated to allow dynamic flying, with a seamless transition from EPL to the Ghostlands, etc

I could see it being time for new starting zones.

As much as I think they're important for showing you your race fantasy and developing your character, I don't see that Blizzard feels the same way. Moving forward it seems we're getting allied races, with no true starting zones. Exiles reach is a good NPE, but personally I feel it lacks specific personality to your race (however it does touch on it in regards your class)

I understand that Exiles reach has been designed with first time players in mind, but I almost wish it was the allied race starting zone. You log in, start in your capital, get assigned exiles reach as your first mission for 1-10 by your faction leader.

If starting zones aren't being touched yet, I'm sure its certain to be after the coming trilogy.

With the coming patch however, it surely has to be something you can do at any level. Would be funny if there was a secret new allied race coming (Tuskar) and classic players upon logging on to retail were greeted with an entirely new race option. It might even convert a few players.

If I had to pick myself? I'd choose Plunder Ilse as a completely new Island, accessible and able to level in at any point in the game. Throw in some quests, a dungeon, maybe even a mini-raid for max level to incite new players to level up. Fill it with fun mini-games and side content.

Well, they said it was based upon musings from the community, and tuskar as allied race would defo fit that bill. Yet again, they aren't really pirates either haha. Could be that we defend them from pirates which makes them becoming available as propper allies, though?

    Curious about 10.2.6.

Definitively is something about pirates, but what they can do with them? Plunder Isle with some daily quests and a new event? It would be fine but it would not deserve all this hype and secrecy.

We know that they have a kind of Vampire Survivors roguelike thing in the works. Might we get a "Torghast" with a customizable boat? Instead of fighting ourselves, we can have a boat with different skills and such.

WoW really really needs parallel progression IMO. Something like FFXIV's Deep Dungeon where our characters start from 0 in every way.

I think they messed up by teasing it so early. It's very easy for everyone to hype it up for themselves like this. It's just going to be something small.

All we know for sure is that it will not require level 70, and not be on the Dragon Isles, which in my mind precludes a PvE event, and a story event.
I do hold a foolish hope of seeing player boats as a very basic player housing, though that is likely not happening.

It's one thing to announce a secret patch that early, it was another altogether to say it would include stuff players have been discussing for ages.

Wait, where did they say that last bit?

Some blue post a good while back that talked about their reasoning behind making the patch secret. I believe their exact wording was something closer to : "This patch will be exciting to those who love discussing future developments", or somesuch.

I might not be getting the quote exactly right, but the wording was definitely the kind of ambiguous that leaned into players getting hyped up.

I read that as "there's no PTR, so have fun speculating what it might be"

    Precisely that.

Harmless enough if you give it the benefit of the doubt. But when your have players who are starved for updates it sent the speculation into overdrive. People don't remember that time they talked about having one more NPC in Stormwind harbor with a pirate hat. They remember that time before BfA launched when a player ship was a real possibility.

That is definitely a highly likely possibility. That, or some new story stuff in Stormwind/Orgrimmar. Maybe some pirate NPCs giving out flyers on recruiting to go to this new island off the coast of Pandaria or whatever.

Probably just pirates then if its about 'past musings'

Well, we should know in about two days.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

They said it's something that players have been musing about for a long time.

No one cared about pirates until the last Leak season when the only available leaks were pirates, Avaloren, and Soul of Azeroth. The musings were short-lived.

The Housing idea is far more likely, as Housing is indeed something that has been talked-about for so long.

Unless they just start with a skeleton of the feature, housing is far too big to be a small patch. And I wouldn't see the point of being so secretive about it either.

I said in the past that they will do a prototype of housing.

Stuff like the MoP farm being a prototype of WoD Garrisons.

Midnight's features are expected to knock player's socks off. The average player is a collection/transmog farmer who doesn't raid beyond LFR and just wants to collect and farm cosmetics. A pretty little house or farm in Quel'Thalas that you can decorate would knock the average player's socks off.

It begins with a "build your little pirate cove" type of prototype feature in 10.2.6.

They are secretive about it because they know Housing is something that the average player (aka not someone who sees WOW as a full-time job) wants since 2004.
