Hello,

To quote Holly Longdale, "For the 10.2.6 patch for Dragonflight, we created what we think is a unique event inspired by past musings from the community. We can say that it is open to anyone with a WoW subscription if they want to participate (Classic or Dragonflight players)."

In other words, if you have a "WoW subscription" (which implies Classic or Dragonflight players (since most retail players have bought, and are playing, Dragonflight)), you will have access to the patch and content within.

Furthermore, 10.2.6 will NOT include Dragonflight content (zones, themes, etc.) that would require players to have bought the expansion.

OK, Marlamin hinting the patch contains New Tech has me curious again... I keep reminding myself not to be hyped to avoid letdown.

Really hope it comes this week whatever it is!

I mean, last time I was excited it was Living World which ended up being some neat world flavouring but nothing huge. A lot of new tech from the past years hasn't exactly been user facing either, so definitely don't get excited over just that.

e.g. a new hypothetical matchmaking system might be transparently implemented into the group finder which would make it invisibly new or have an entirely new/separate UI which would make it very obviously new

This is not exactly what Holly said fwiw, specifically the event doesn't need a Dragonflight license, but there might be more content in 10.2.6 that isn't just the event. Obviously the main feature of the patch is the event, but they tend to throw in a few smaller things, usually encrypted, every minor patch.

Please temper your expectations, I'm sensing a whole lotta hyping up for something that isn't likely -that- cool.

Yet another reason why this excessive amount of secrecy on Blizzard's part is a bad idea.

I was hoping for Allied Races but I think "Pirate Survivors" is more likely, and the new tech is in reference to all those vampire survivor strings we saw partially in the last patch.

I hardly get excited about this "vampire survivors" type of event, i know it will play different in WoW, but it's totally not my cup of tea when it comes to these type of games. ^^

If we want to really huff copium, the post on Thursday could be about 10.2.7 or rather the TWW alpha as that was stated to launch shortly after 10.2.6 and before spring......and the first day of spring is next week

Development update could also be generally on Season 4, which going by the roadmap will be starting somewhere between the launch of 10.2.6 and 10.2.7.
Some mentions of what they might theme the fated season after, whether it will include more than just the DF raids and dungeons, but also the old DF events. Whether Timewalking will play a part, etc.

Now big question is if they are going full surprise and drop patch this week or announce date on Thursday and release patch next week.

I think a shadowdrop of a patch is counterproductive, general audience wont know it until they log in. They should at least give a notification it is coming.

i heard this before. I don't think that it holds water. A lot of players don't follow all the news. For many it would be a surprise either way.

Remember that the devs said the Season 4 stuff would come AFTER the update, and we are getting Season 4 details on Tuesday. So... Season 4 is probably not the focus of In Development, and those usually appear after a new patch has dropped.
