I am curious why they didn't immediately nerf Flame Whirl when it is the single most requested change besides plunder gains. Yes, you can out juke it, but it's not really feasible when everyone is running it.

It's hard to nerf it without making it completely useless. Make it slower? Completely useless as you have to be standing on top of the enemy to deal damage anyway. Nerf the damage? You are completely defense-less when you use it so if it doesn't do enough damage, the enemy might be able to outdamage you while you are standing on top of them.
Probably nerfing the duration/increasing the CD.
Just saw someone in a Plunderstorm lobby wearing the full Plunderlord set. Bruh wot? Even if they nolifed it since release, that's gotta be insanely tight to get it that quickly.

Being in Arathi has made me think that this would've been a really awesome game mode to help the progress bar in Warfronts.
Instead of a pirate you drop in as a 7th Legion/Honorbound Paratrooper, goal is to cause havoc in preparation of faction assault. Exchange plunder for war resources, storm for say 7th Legion arcanists calling a manastorm, Nathanos' forces conjuring a blightstorm as defense.
I think there is a really, really cool possibility to integrate playing some forms of "troops" our main character could command if we are going fully into cosmic battle after cosmic battle. This could even possibly be a part of a revamped Garrison system. The more I think of what they could do with this tech, the more excited I get.

You're right, the scope is pretty wide depending on whether or not they want to integrate it further with the current story (which I personally hope for).
I do wonder how non-canon it is, though, considering our main character can interact with Da'kash. I hope they decide to add Brew Bay to the Highlands, it would be cool to have a small little hovel to discover in the world, give the RPers a place too.

I see the potential of the new mode as far as Warfronts are concerned.
You were already going to the Warfronts via gunship, so it would have been a perfect fit. You would be deployed into the battlefield from the Alliance gunship, as in the Seething Shores BG.
Instead of playing your usual character, you would be playing a generic "soldier" of the Alliance who then has the option to become a Knight (Tank), Archer (Ranged DPS), Mage (Ranged DPS), Priest (Healer), SI:7 Agent (Melee DPS), and so on, through getting kills, looting resources, and levelling-up.
Maybe you could go all out and do it like the Star Wars Battlefront series, where after a certain threshold you can straight up play as a lore figure, like Anduin or Jaina or Sylvanas. I mean, Battlefront lets you go from some random mook all the way up to the Emperor, so why not go from a random footman all the way up to Anduin?
And the timeline also would have been perfect because these kind of games where all the rage back in the 2017-2019 era, which was the BfA timeline. Battlefront 2, Fortnite, Pubg, Apex Legends, all from that era.
And, you know, Warfronts would finally be PvP, which is what people expected from the mode, in a faction war expansion.
An unfortunate missed opportunity to truly turn Warfronts into something monumental and unforgettable.
I really hope they add dynamic ground mounts at some point. Grinding for Taivan mount is fine, but I'll never use him![]()

I kind of see it in the opposite way: this is the perfect excuse for them to slowly revamp old world zones for Plunderstorm, and then use those remodeled zones in the inevitable expansion where they will be used as a revamp.
For example, we aren't getting a Kalimdor expansion for a while. But what if they add a Barrens Plunderstorm season that revamps the map? Then they can reuse that map for the Kalimdor expansion that happens next saga, and if they have already developed the map, then the expansion can be a little bigger than was originally planned.
I think it is a VERY opportune time to intelligently use dev time on dual-purpose zone rehauling. The Plaguelands would work well in this way, as well as Gilneas, Tanaris, etc.
You know what, I think I agree.
The only holdup seems to be art assets and dev bandwidth. The background is built for all this tech so we could hopefully shift resources into other areas of it that need some work, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them kinda kill to birds with one stone mid expansion.
I had floated the idea of a Tanaris Plunderstorm revamp during 11.0 to either tie into the Old God themes or potential Goblin/Undermine themes (could be both). Maybe this would be a middle ground for tied to expansion and a utility to revamp? If 11.0 does feature Undermine like some are speculating, a lot of those assets could be reused to revamp Gadgetzan, Temporal Conflux assets for Caverns of Time, Zandalar for Zul'farrak, Kul Tiran for the pirate areas, Nazjatar/Ny'alotha for the Old God areas, WoD for Dunemaul, and just general Voldun assets for the rest. Players are no longer pirates, but Venture Co. Or Pirates hired by Venture Co.
At this rate you tie in the expansion semi-loosely while also checking a box off the revamp list.
i like the idea, but i see one issue. Warfronts are factions versus faction. The thing that makes Plunderstorm work, is that is everyone against everyone. Remove it, and it would feel like any other BG, where the team with more people in a location wins.
There is no real way to tie the factions, or groups and make this gameplay work as good as it does in plunderstorm.
