Ummm ye? MoP is one of the most beloved expansions. The reason they speedrun Cata may very well be the want to reach MoP ASAP.

They also all but said during Blizzcon that they are doing it. They are speedrunning Cata because there is frankly very little interest for it.

Datamining suggests they are doing something with the main story quests in Pandaria so I dont think so.

No. They said we wouldn't be able to transfer our characters, and they shouldn't do that with the current classic realms. I would love a "season of legacy" though that's made in mind with transfers to the real game, but allowing people to transfer removed items AFTER they said we wouldn't be able to do so would be super bad wtf.

So what you would do instead? I wrote already about remaining options (1. deleting chars on which people put 100s of hours, 2. keeping last classic on zombie realm) and both sound worse than drama about unobtainable transmog.

Hell, by then Blizzard could even bring back unobtainable stuff from Classic. Imo old world should return to retail as separate continent behind Taverns of Time portal.

I mean the appeal of it is declining. It's pretty clear that some version of vanilla is what the majority of that audience wants.I think MoP will do better than Cata but even that isnt gonna pull amazing numbers and whatever the current season of vanilla is will be vastly more popular.

It's minimal work for almost guaranteed reward. It also gives them a great opportunity to make a digital deluxe edition with whatever extra cosmetics, which collectors like me are almost guaranteed to buy.

Well, again, I would love some form of timewalking classic with removed stuff, I just think allowing people to merge their classic and retail collections AFTER they said they wouldn't do it and AFTER they already removed some classic/wotlk stuff now with cataclysm "classic" would suck hard.

One major downside of the fragmentation of WoW into all these versions is that the news cycle is really messed up these days, if you're just a retail player.

From Blizzard's POV they're all right with doing some Classic one week, some retail one week, etc. From our POV it just feels like long weeks of no news.

Its the same as it used to be, but instead of gaps of complete silence it's news for OTHER versions of WoW (and those players feel the same way if they don't play retail and get retail news)

The old model of content droughts and silence was insane, especially in SL

IIRC we used to get basically weekly retail news drops, even if it wasn't always the most hype news. Might be misremembering though.

One thing, though, is that currently they create this sense of disappointment every week that isn't focused on your preferred version of WoW. Sometimes no major news is better than "oh no, not SoD again" imo, but maybe that's just because we're eager for updates on Alpha.

I suppose this could be down to there simply not being a whole lot going on in Retail, but I agree. I have turned off most non Retail news on Wow head, and its sometimes disheartening to see only one or two articles on the shortlist, rather than the full ten of transmog and mounts.

No shit they're quiet right now, theyre almost certainly working on getting TWW up to a state for Alpha likely next week, and 10.2.7 might get a blog soon, but even if it does its a minor patch and we know at least some of it is going to be hidden because its gonna be story quests as a lead into TWW.

Also, while yeah getting hype is fun so many people here acting like hearing about alpha or ptr blog posts are more interesting than actually playing. So goofy

After the disaster that was SL, they focused on regular communication for DF. I think for plenty of people, this has been a probationary period for Blizz. A lot of trust has been lost over the past few years and how long it takes for different people to get them out of probation varies.

Yeah, it's starting to get a bit ridiculous, especially because Blizzard is really good at communicating. It's just not what this very, very small sub-set of people, who don't play Classic, don't play SoD, don't really care for Season 4, but also don't play any other games want.

Like, people are upset that Blizzard haven't done anything in the two weeks since they've announced the S4 release date. The horror! Imagine if you played games by companies that are actually bad at communicating like Dota 2 lmao
