There's ambiguity in the post but I have to assume it's like regular timewalking where you're put into the live game when you hit 70.

I don't think so, as level 70 is listed as being able to access heroic raids in the remix. Plus it says how after the event is over, characters transfer to live.

Right, I said how stupid "Oh, it's just MoP leveling again would be", but this angle is ingenious.

Yeah the Roadmap has 10.2.7 at the end of Spring so my guess is this is gonna be late May/early June. TWW Prepatch probably in late August and TWW release in late September.

see I dont get the people who say "Why cant I bring over existing characters"

The entire point of the event is leveling characters from lvl 10 - 70

so do you want your pre-existing characters to be reverted to lvl 10 and have all their items removed and then have to re-level them? At that point why not just make a remix character thats the same race and name, it would be no different no?

Why would i want to replace any of my characters that unlocked a bunch of old world stuff, on which i can easily go back and do that content, and instead get a limited time event pushed one that has nothing and i would need to do that stuff AGAIN??

Interesting and unexpected. A bit of smart marketing too by not requiring DF to participate.

Holly did say the rewards were better than just a recolor of the MoP CM sets. So I guess that makes sense now.

Why would it replace any character at all? If you want to participate just create a new character, and after you've done whatever you want in the event just dont log on to the character anymore

Xal'atath doing some shenanigans in the timeways, going back to Pandaria to claim the essence of Y'shaarj. We go after her and ensure things don't get too messed up.

Another thought about this, I'm assuming right now that all classes and races from live are available so what's gonna be done for tier sets for DH and Evoker? If there are any tier sets, anyway.

Hopefully it will have unique gear for both DH and Evokers. Would be a shame if you go through all of that only to be unable to unlock the most coveted pieces for your main class if you play Evoker like me.
(DHs did in one sense get a challenge mode appearance from the Order hall, and there is the unreleased Evoker set datamined, so maybe it's that.)

DHs did get a set from their order hall to go along with all the other classes getting a challenge mode recolour, so probably just a recolour of that.
Evokers have an unreleased set you can see on Wow head that was datamined back in 10.1 I want to say. It looked unfinished, but might have been meant for this or heritage armour.

Also thinking more on this, this is a clever way to let people powerlevel characters in preparation for TWW too. And to get new people in to do the same.

Yeah its very smart and with the currency it should be pretty easy for people to just farm out the stuff that they want.

Also on this note now the absolute barrage of TBC recolors that showed up in 10.2.6 datamining is starting to make more sense(altough that could also be part of the 20th anniversary).

Also, 10.2.7 has more things than timerunning. The PTR should have things to datamine, e.g. heritage armor sets.

Getting to level in Pandaria all the way?
Faster than normal?
Cool abilities and transmog?
Some kind of Xal'atath involvement?

Sign me the heck up.

I don't mind leveling in the Dragon Isles myself but this'll still be nice. And collecting transmog, titles, and mounts is my thing so this is totally up my alley.

I'm still amused at how I was thinking the idea of "timewalking" an expansion sounded dull and yet here I am, excited.

I hope this becomes a thing, even if it means that maybe Warlords of Draenor remix is next (which, to be fair, I did enjoy leveling up in at the time)
