I could see an Ethereal starting zone being something like this:
The Ethereals we play resettled K’aresh (something mentioned in BC?) and we’re forced to flee again because Xal’atath attacks. (Maybe to restore/manifest Dimensius or empower herself to become a void lord)

I could see us being part of the Protectorate or some other anti-void faction within the Ethereals.

I think it's half and half on Ethereals vs Naga. Ethereals have the set up through Dimensius, but as we see with the one in Nerubar, they don't seem to be interested in messing with their models (at least yet). Naga meanwhile have been MIA, have also been set up, and MAY be one of the "elf tribes" Metzen was talking about. Technically.

Also if Dalaran crashes into the sea, that may play a part. As they have an Arcane background.

That zone would be the perfect place to bring back a certain keeper that hasn't been involved ingame since fucking ever.

I'm not too sure on Ethereal lore beside the broad strokes but what if we're some small group of survivors eking out a subdued existence on the ruins of K'aresh pulling off guerilla attacks on the void-aligned ethereals in a starting zone that eventually sees us freeing Khadgar or some important Mcguffin and fleeing to Azeroth promising to return setting the stage for a 12.2 K'aresh Zone and Raid. Backed by the Army of Light in the final stand foreshadowed in the Legion comic with Velen and Anduin (who's looking old and weathered but not *that* old and weathered)

Real Talk: I want that Ethereal Camel mount like Saraad from Hearthstone.

Speaking of Elun'ahir.

Freya absolutely should be in the game if we're dealing with anything related to Eonar and world trees.

I won't read the full spoilers for now, but can we say that they are setting up the titan theme in a major way in TWW already or is it just mostly void stuff?

Had a look at it myself earlier, and in my opinion some of the titan stuff seems more like an immediate situation to resolve than something that will impact TLT, I could just be misinterpreting that though. We'll definitely have some major build up by the final expansion patch though.

I think blizzard should make it clear that not every new npc race will be an AR even if they reuse playable model, it would be unsustainable to have so many races. From what i've seen, the Titan theme is primarily local.
Earthen and their edicts, the Coreways reconstruction and the Earthen factory.

There's worldbuilding involving a keeper and a titan construct that paints them as tyrannical and controlling, but that's about it.

The rest of the narrative is about the void.

I'd be ok with no playable harronir at all. They should just add 1 race per expansion if it makes sense and has proper worldbuilding and protagonism in the expansion.

The more I see of harronir, the more I don't want them. Just way too similar to Night Elves. These ARs need some originality at this point.

It's funny how Night Elves, if customised the right way, are currently the closest thing to that.

Their reasoning for "no Nerubian AR" is because they say the arms make it difficult. However, the two-legged, four armed but humanoid nerubians have animations to hold every weapon that you can view on Wowhead. They also said not in TWW. I don't think the animations question is a real argument and they may have been referring to the regular Nerubians too, which would make sense.

From a logic persepective, it doesn't really make sense why they would introduce this wacky Nerubian form for any other reason than eventual playability. It's just more work for what, a one-off raid mob? That, lorewise, wouldn't appear in The Last Titan barring as a race from Azj-Kahet? So it's not like they will be able to reuse them.

WP: Nerubians have been such a massive part of Warcraft history. Do we get to play as Nerubians at some point?

DM: We don’t get to play with Nerubians in this expansion. No. And there’s no plans right now. From what I understand, playing as a Nerubian would be a tough thing to kind of animate because they have so many limbs and whatnot.

when it comes to allied races they're heavily limited by the way armor works in the game. races that can't have a "visage" form would end up like dracthyrs (without the humanoid form)

imo harronirs are fine. at least they look better than dracthyrs and are more interesting than eartherns

Harronirs are fine, it's a decently unique on dark trolls/bugbears, but it does point to "we aren't ever getting a monster ever again" and is once again OC race. Hope to be proven wrong with Naga (even if it means visage form) but I definitely have checked out a bit and assume Drac will probably be our last monster, given the most likely races after are Helf and Amani/Drakkari.

They’ve got machine learning tech to fit armor onto new character models, as per an interview with Ion.

I think it is very likely that Dracthyr once they get new classes, and new races would be able to wear armor like everyone else as they work with the tech a bit more.

Considering that we already know that the coreway is supposed to take the Earthen all the way down to the very core of Azeroth, I fully expect the final zone of the expansion to be so near the core that it's a part of the skybox or something similar.

to fit new armor or all armor? that's the key difference. dracthyrs can wear custom made armor, but they can't wear old sets because they just don't work on them

they said that starting from tww dracthyrs are going to be able to stay in visage form permanently, so i don't think they have managed to fix the armor issue for the dragon form lol

lol no, they said that dracthyr visage forms for other classes will be able to permanently stay in that form as they don't have any spells that turn them into a dragon. no hover, deep breath, etc.

but I agree dracs won't ever be able to have regular armor in dragon form imo. just guessing.
