And suddenly she just forgets all that as if we can just blame all that on Sylvanas and the Jailer-- No. That was 100% on the Alliance's fault, it was their idea, Anduin greenlit the idea, Jaina motioned it. It was the first and last time the Alliance actually does something morally ambiguous in the entirety of WoW and they brushed it under the rug because LOOK! XAL'ATATH! N'ZOTH! AZSHARA! OLD GODS STUFF!!! ...I hate BFA for that exact reason.
You're talking about the book? I know it's shit, but it wasn't entierly true, Talanji still wants Jaina's head on the platter. And I pretty much agree with on the rest. But you know the narrative we should all hold hands and be cool with each other.
Maybe they should rename the game to Wold of Peacecraft, at least it wouldn't be misleading.
    I miss Mists of Pandaria

And I know people will say, "But it's still Warcraft but we're not fighting each other--" but the last time we fought an external threat and treated it like it was a war was with the Legion.
BFA was heavily Alliance v Horde, until it swapped to N'zoth which didn't involve either party and felt like we (as in the player) were the only thing trying to stop N'zoth's assault.
Shadowlands was close, but it was poorly executed and most of the action was happening in the Jailer's backdoor.. and even then the Covenants didn't feel "united" since you couldn't freely swap around...
and DF was an expedition, everything that was going on fell squarely on your shoulders to deal with it. Nobody else was lifting a finger up until the Emerald Dream, but it wasn't even a full on war but just some Avengers level action plot.

The faction tension helps to offset a bad villain, because that's how things would really play out. No matter how big or terrifying the threat is, we'll always go back to arguing against each other over who was right or wrong, and it feels unrealistic when we don't have that.

It is also not realistic to constantly going back and forth SO MANY TIMES between teaming up against big threat and going back to fighting each other.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Have we talked about Christie Golden having been laid off from Blizzard?

i know some people are gonna celebrate this, as they are incapable of recognizing that a human being is behind whatever qualms they have with the work, but this is a bummer

That can explain why Anduin is no more that disney princess he was until SL. I hope new devs make him better then Golden "little lion".

Anyway, good luck for her, I hope she will be good.

And so her last story about Anduin will be published at the end of the year. If some characters still smell of non-toxic masculinity, then it wasn't Christie Golden's fault, it was the foundation that Blizzard laid out. Anduin's chance of dying has also increased by 300%.

But Anduin will not die until another character like him is created

All the best to her. I had a lot of fun with her novels and most of her output in the cinematics.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that after SL and Xbox new leadership and Metzen return there is large laid off to story devs. Golden and Danuser (most of fun hated ones) was fired, other unknown I think too. Will we get some serious business with lore after that? Wheels keep turning, drama unfolding?
Like come on, new devs - new characters - new story.
Dalaran annihilation, Magni come from stoneform, Khadgar MIA, Alleria corruption. All much more darken stories then SL-DF was. And much more beleivable to me.
And more and more - "we hear your feedback, we care". Like a charm. Something changed and that change is good one. If they put less woke stuff ingame - we will eat good.

That's a damn shame. I am curious why, it feels like OW2 not doing well (is she attached to Diablo as well?) has more to do with it than "I don't like Dragonflight story/tone" stuff, but...

It won't stop being woke, there's no going back like it or not. I'm ok with it, what I don't like is FURRY STUFF OMG

I'm so glad vulpera went horde.

What you've seen of Anduin so far in TWW would have been written long before Golden was layed off

Damn, losing job and family on the same day.

Pretty surprised that she got laid off.
I always imagined she'd be around until retirement. (as naive as that is).

    Wish her all the best.

I think the story of Overwatch is pretty much dead. They can't keep lying to the players about caring when they cancelled the story mode and the new lore contradicts itself, like kiriko's age. The lore is just a minimal excuse for the pvp gameplay, they are not worldbuilding nor planning anything about it.

It will not ofc. I wish less, not any. And bring some masculinity here, WoW need it. Varian and Saurfang, Thrall (old one) and Cairne. Muradin and Vol'Jin.

Reminder Golden wasn’t on the lore team or even the wow team she didn’t write what we saw in game and instead took orders for books cinematic’s ect.
Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.

When I watched cinematic to TWW, and then words of Metzen about "starting something large from something tiny" - I think its more like "Hey, I know this cinematic is lame and we don't have time and money to redo it, but don't worry, we will deliver you some good one after"

She never decided on the main plot, she wrote around what was decided by others. How Jaina was written in Pandaria/Legion (as in the game) and how all of her work during that time did its darnest against it will tell you on that.

And given how much praise Stickney (the current MAIN narrative designer, their views on the story correlate A WHOLE LOT) and Metzen gave and still give her, don't expect "her influence" to go away any time soon (unless they get booted too, of course).

golden and danuser were not the problem. most of the story is written by quest writers. they are the problem

Those high quality cinematics start development maybe a year or two before it's released. Metzen worked on BFA cinematic before leaving at the start of Legion, so I guess the whole drama about "too much feelings in wow" came too late to change their plans for the cinematic.

We could still get a different one for the release trailer like they did in DF.
