Confusingly, i actually did get the option to download the beta a week ago. Which is kind of useless currently.

Saves you some time when you actually get in and want to play it. I don't know about everyone else but while I have no connection issues in game, downloading new builds always takes forever (and I've done all the optimizations suggested).

I mean, this is just calling out Alleria for a horribly bad strategic call that could get them all killed. I'll emote a facepalm at her during that scene too (if only to keep growing my massive statistics counter on legitimate facepalm towards NPCs)

Damn I guess I was wrong. Blizzard is not trying to copy a D&D orrery cosmology. They are trying to copy the Malazan Books of the Fallen. Multi-tiered interconnected aspected cosmology with overlaying pantheons.

In so far as it reaffirms they're nixing their one interesting idea regarding Anduin, which is that he on some level enjoyed not making decisions and cutting loose while possessed, and which moved his drama into territory that isn't just a much weaker rehash of any given undead character. Instead, it's about how he shouldn't blame himself that he was possessed, a plot point so trite that SL dismissed it in one line by having even he admit that no one else thinks he did anything wrong.

It's basically an in-universe description of what we learned in SL with less details and an excess of technical language. Nothing about that is new, though, and the in-story writer doesn't fully grasp what's actually going on.

Btw, this take on the cosmology really isn't new, and it's basically just a viewpoint based off the already complex and developed cosmological pattern, where everything became intertwined, and more shapes and layers arose from the pattern, etc.

It ultimately does fundamentally return to the whole "6 sides" ordeal, but to the person that wrote it, just basing it off that simple notion is ultimately futile, which makes sense, as they both have a somewhat limited view of the Cosmos, as well as a viewpoint that really only understands the pattern based off its already complex and current form, hence why the form it takes is a hexateron and not a normal hexagon.

It doesn't tie anything to that at all lol. Soft magic systems imply we know very little about it, which in WoW's case, we know a lot.

To answer your first comment: Remember how Firim basically stated in his Tazavesh books that the Pattern alone ended up not being enough, and more shapes and complex variables arose from it til we got the cosmology we currently have today?

Well, think of this viewpoint as a double down on that notion.

Everything is connected, the shape itself is a 5-simplex, and there are more lines and whatnot making sense of everything. The Cosmic Pattern in its original form by comparison is more simple and simply has 2 primary rings, a Cosmic ring and an Elemental ring, and it is possible the Elemental ring came after the Cosmic ring when the Progenitors were first establishing things.

People are still trying to blame the cosmology itself, rather than the (lack of) details Shadowlands portrayed them, despite the wow cosmology chart being published in Chronicles 1, when Metzen was still in charge.

Chronicle and Grimoire weren't trying to explore connective powers though, they were just providing a run down on the fundamental powers that make up our cosmology.

Hell, Shadowlands and Dragonflight express more than once that forces of WoW and their magics can and have been connected and intertwined. That's quite literally why the Cosmic Pattern exists. Pretty sure I tried arguing this fact long ago but people either ignored me or just thought I was doing my typical "Cosmicpreds headcanon". Yeah, I don't seem so dumb now, huh?

People clearly need it stated because theres a post every week asking how a character can use one kind of magic but not be affiliated with that cosmic force. This is a text people can point to & say, "here, anybody can use any magic. It doesn't matter."

It's not overcomplicating if the fundamentals are the same. I'm basically expressing why the person in The War Within views the cosmology as such, which takes from past expansions regardless.

Which is exactly the problem, this is how Blizzard chooses to explain their cosmology and it comes off as pretentious and overcomplicating for the sake of faux grandeur.
Lots of big words that really just mean "remember those 6 things? they do stuff with each other!"
