yeah i hate the idea of "lol just hire more QA", its just ignorant of the actual QA process. will more QA people help? yes. is there any sized QA department on planet earth that would be as useful as a public beta test? absolutely not

Not just in game dev, but any programmer or tester for any piece of hardware or software, or heck, any sort of equipment literally everywhere would agree that no matter how many QA testers you have, (You could have a thousand) you still wont be able to find or predict even a quarter of the bugs, problems and things regular users will find and do when they get their hands on it

While this is true, hasn't there been posts from Blizz before about how the MoP beta was less helpful than they hoped cause they got overwhelmed with people just going, "why is this broken??? I paid for access fix now!"

many saying that retail is incredibly unfriendly to new players is not in my imagination. blizzard itself admitted that. min maxing the crap out game before the expansion is even out only breeds toxicity and elitism. It's not a problem for me and it's not a problem for you because we're veterans of the game. also, making people pay for a beta is scummy, and that's enough to be against it. yeah, no one is getting forced but they're highly incentivized by the other perks they get. It's a business strategy

If they really did it means the devs also forgot the original Death Knights (Warcraft 2) weren't made by the Lich King. "Death Knights can only be made by the Lich King" was never true.

You're saying this like these problems with the game are directly related to the Beta and/or each other. They're not.

yeah that is true, which is why i think the paid beta is a better alternative to fully random invites. i mentioned earlier that if you spend $90 dollars on the preorder ur likely invested in the game, which would probably make for a better beta tester

I hate doing comparisons, but why can ffxiv release an expansion with almost no bugs without any external testing while wow can't? probably because the qa at blizzard sucks

not only is this just false, but wow is way more complex than ff14. and saying "the fact that there are bugs = QA bad" just further demonstrates your ignorance. Its an extremely common occurrence for QA to find bugs, report them, and have them go unfixed due to low priority. thats actually just how QA works. QA only FINDS the bugs, they dont fix them

That's the level of testing a game needs so the launch isn't full of bugs.

If you believe that the majority of players who pre purchased for beta access did so to test and report bugs then I have some magic beans to sell you.

The important thing is there isn't one specific way to become a Death Knight. If anything the Primus demonstrates its just an ancient form of Magic, something Earthen would be familiar with, new & old.

"the majority of players pre-purchased for beta access" is nothing like what I said. This is a conversation about if public testing is helpful to the game. The fact that a noticeable number of people are waiting for Beta serves to come online at this moment is proof enough of that.

i'm gonna tell you the most recent ones

they just hotfixed the lfg group. you could play with the other faction before and you can't anymore.

cata was missing vendors.

these are major bugs that should not go past the testing phase otherwise you're going to upset people
