Sadly, it looks like Ion decided to flip-flop on druids, shamans, and pallies for all. Like if you are going to get us all excited and then reneg on it, maybe just don't say you are gonna do it in the first place?

Seems like them deciding to make more classes for dracthyr pulled the resources away from druid, etc. I mean dracthyr classes are cool and all but not at that expense.

That interview doesn't mean shit. It's just an awkward way of saying "we aren't doing druids for everyone right now" with a lame lore excuse. The real reason is the devwork it takes to make all the unique druid forms: again a point to them not doing "universal druid forms" which would be the only easy way of unlocking it for all races, but they seem to understand that wouldn't go over well.

There aren't unique assets required for most new dracthyr classes which is why they are getting them. They just need to hook up the dracthyr model to the animations for those classes, and the visages already have those animations ready to go because they are male belf and female human respectively.

We MAY get Drac shamans or druids as they have aspects that fit those classes but it is unlikely as it requires more work. I think shamans are most likely because totems are the least work.

You take the Dragon aspect away from Evokers and you are left with a different type of Mage. It's bad enough that you will be able to play it in Visage.

Oracle has a cool permanent spell effect.
Though it'd be nice if we had the option to turn it off.

Gameplay wise, Premonition should be a base 30 second cooldown.
For what the spell does, it feels really slow.

Archon is ok, it's just the "use Halo" tree.
But the visuals are satisfying to watch.

Voidweaver feels nice on Discipline, its integrated nicely into the gameplay loop.
Don't know how it feels for Shadow yet, haven't tried it.

Some people would rather not play the core fantasy of a race for the sake of their own character and RP. Player agency matters most.

The Dracthyr lore is that they are draconic soldiers, not that they are all Evokers. They have been shown to have warriors and the other classes make sense to have.

My question- why don't the devs just say "we don't have the resources to do this"? Doesn't XIV usually handle questions in that way? Are they scared of what the audience might do if they started talking honestly in game dev terms?

i feel like some class devs either got back from vacation or realized "oh shit we need to actually do our job" because the WW in 11.0 is mint

making stats matter
putting in out themed MoP legendary ability as a talent

Based on what ? Why would people rather play a dragon-mage class on a race that's not a dragon ? Sure, the tmog restriction is annoying, but that's pretty much it.

Blizzard creates dozens of brand new models each patch.
It's not gonna eat them up to choose 1-2 races and add those 6-12 models for each.

And then just repeat that the next patch, or the one after.

Same thing for Palas and Shamans, just that those require significantly less work with each race just needing 1 mount model and 1 recolorable totem model.

Considering this hasn't happened and dev statements show it's not a priority, they clearly are not being told to do it. Ion didn't say it won't happen but there are no immediate plans.

The Earthen are getting druids, the Harronir are probably playable and are druids. They are ARs tied to the purchase of a new expansion. They are priority.

I think fans are getting frustrated that the class combos aren't happening fast enough, and the reason is that they aren't happening quickly because the dev team is not prioritizing them because they don't see the value in it. Or the value is not as evident as the value of focusing on new ARs that sell expansions and race changes more than goblin druids.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the only old race class unlocks that would probably rival an expansion purchase in their value is Nelf paladin and maybe belf/human druid. The rest is niche.

I don't know how anyone still thinks we are getting more race/class combos anytime soon. (other than simple classes for dracthyr).
You don't say we will get to all class/race combos eventually and then reveal a new race that still has restrictions. Dragonflight had the perfect opportunity for druids and very good setup for paladins and shamans and they still didn't do it.
I know its a fantasy game, but at some point you have to be realistic about what is happening.

Well there's a lot of "why aren't they doing this they said they would do this and they are a giant company with infinite resources" on social media over this, but neither the devs or the people on social media will just admit it's because of money and the allocation of dev resources.

I wish a dev (or Holly) would just outright say this. The fans have been spoiled by communication lately to the point that they think they can just bully the devs to get what they want and they need a straight up "we don't see the money in that right now" answer to bring them back to earth.

Similarly an answer about remix and gearing would be great, even if it pisses people off. "We have gearing costs like they are so that people play the gamemode for a longer length of time". Would that actually tank the community if they were honest?

I always pick race-class that make sense for me. In my perfect WoW every race would have options only to limited amount (with lore of each deepened and explained), but it's not even like this ship sailed years ago - it was simply never there, combos like Gnome Warrior exist since start. Other people playing weird combos doesn't bother me though.

Nothing you made a comparison to is a playable race. There are tons of people who want to Play Demon Hunter but don't want to play an elf. We've been asking for Orc & Draenei Demon Hunters since they came out.

Funny whataboutism, but Azshara is one character, so she is not comparable to an entire zone or race.

Oh, by the way, you shouldn't be hoping for playable Krokul, since the perfect time for them was Legion, but they were replaced by a better race (Void Elves). So you are likely never going to get playable Krokul.
