There are also several ways Xal'atath could be the "final boss" without us actually fighting her directly, similar to how Gul'dan was by all accounts the final boss of Hellfire Citadel despite us never actually fighting him directly, or having Archimonde as the final encounter.
TWW or even Midnight could end with pursuing Xal'atath somewhere where she activates a Titan construct, revives C'thun, or any number of shenanigans. We wouldnt be directly fighting her, but she would be the "final boss" of the expansion in all the ways that matter to narrative.

You could get all the Elite pieces that correspond to the set pieces. So only Head, Shoulders, Chest, Gloves, and Pants. Not belt, feet, bracers, or back.
The world revamp dream will never die!

This is how I see it going down. We pursue Xal to either Azeroth's Core/Silithus Below/K'aresh, wherever. She's doing her thing just like Gul'dan was in Hellfire Citadel, and she succeeds in her goal and summons in someone for us to fight. Be that Dimensius, a void lieutenant like The Forgotten One from Hearthstone or even an Old God council fight consisting of C'thun, Yogg, Y'shaarj and N'zoth.
We defeat whoever but Xal escapes, or better yet, beats us back and achieves her goal.

While some are debating me on it, I think Xal's victory in TWW is not only some kind of portal to K'aresh and Dimensius but also a corruption (likely not total control) of Alleria. Maybe that is what even gets the Sunwell corrupted in the first place. It's too similar to Sylvanas for them not to do it.
Xal will be around in Midnight but Dimensius, with a punchy and cool look, will be the poster child. I also think Darkhan will show up with his manga look (big hat) as either another void servant to work with Xal or as a scourge b-plot similar to Xavius.

Ah, I exploited it while it lasted. Hope Elite sets come back in another form.
Is S2 gear still upgradeable at least? On Beta, even S3 gear is upgradeable again alongside S2, while S4 isn't (although I saw no way to earn Flightstones) so I'm somewhat optimistic about transmog farming (ignoring Mythic-only rewards, you'd only have to farm LFR and Heroic for all 4 appearances of an item)
Gonna use Early Access to push some alts above iLvl 520 so I can hopefully upgrade Hero-track pieces to the Mythic appearance![]()
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.

I wad thoroughly amused by the Metzen interview. He completely put to bed MMOC's conspiracy theory that he came back and started calling the shots and undoing a bunch of shit. According to his own words, he's mostly a guide, and he's letting the same writers people complained about cook. Doesn't sound like he's going to retcon or assume control either. Honestly, I think it's a good thing. WoW narrative issue is that there's always one person commanding the rest of the team, regardless of how lore accurate/good their ideas are.
Have to agree. If they want to make farming transmog easier then they should focus on ensuring all old raids are soloable when you have the gear.
Besides, unless they massively increased how many flightstones you get, I bet most people would just be annoyed with upgrading gear to get more appearances. It's enough to just need to think about potential pieces for the catalyst for transmog without also having people who end up hoarding large amounts of gear pieces to be able to upgrade them later, even more so when you have to consider all four armour types.

At least, that's what he is stating publicly. I can't imagine him not directing narrative traffic, and that would invite him putting the axe to some direction the previous regime had set in motion. Perhaps not all of it, though.
Or it's probably exactly how he stated it is during the interview.
I wonder if they announce Midnight time window at the Warcraft Direct, it'd be the best way to announce the new normal and I'm getting flashbacks to Blizzcon Online and their Character Boost so I wouldn't really be surprised if there is some extreme shock reveal to make the business goals get to where they need to be for the continual existence of World of Warcraft.
Definitely curious to see what the Warcraft Direct looks like because if it was just X.1 announcement it just seems a bit silly. So unless they've got a "We're fixing Warcraft 3" announcement and something big for Rumble it does sort of look very strange right now.
The Roadmap is just a PNG anyways so it'd be weird for it to be the big main thing unless it is completely different from the Dragonflight with even more content lined up.

I no longer reply to quotations beyond if you're asking a genuine question or have a non-confrontational stance.
Midnight has already been.... announced. I'm sure the next presentation for WoW will be 1.) the second season of TWW, 2.) Another Plunderstorm/Remix style event. I assume they plan on having one going constantly with short breaks between, like between Plunderstorm & Remix. And 3.) The actual 20th anniversary event. But I would assume it would already be up on the PTR by then.
I can't remember if you were the one to suggest it or not, but this idea of Xal linking us to K'aresh and Dimensius as a final act of TWW and the reveal being that is where Khadgar/Medivh/Dalaran is, bridging the Ethereal playable race into the story is a fun one to consider.
On the note of Darkhan, it'd be really cool to see them double down on the push that cosmic magics are not 1 for 1 (the book in Hallowfall suggests as much), and that wielders can use different kinds. I imagine with void being pure nothingness, usage of death magic to make some sort of decay into oblivion would be a fun role for Darkhan.
I don't know I just felt like the Roadmap Reveal was what was left of this year, so my eyebrows are quite raised at this Direct thing.
