I suppose the icing n could refer to housing without strictly giving players access to the house.
Assuming there is a questline associated with housing for instance, I could see that being available. Or for that matter a pre-expansion event of sorts for housing. Like going to Elwynn and finding lumber for instance.
Depending on how strongly the developers want to play up housing i could see even just an event where you get to look at some mockups of housing in-game being something worth advertising.
The world revamp dream will never die!
Much as I likely won't be using the feature much, a properly made housing system would be massively popular. A large segment of WoW's playerbase are collectors, people whose aspirations aren't to be in full BiS gear with KSM or to finish the latest raid or whatever but to collect stuff for collection's sake, or to show it off. Housing will provide plenty of content for them if it's done even semi well. It's minimal content for some, and worth the sub price for years to come by itself for others.

The internet: where to every action is opposed an unequal overreaction.
There is a chance that the roadmap rune is somehow Harrowsdeep. Maybe the Aspects have been hunting Iridikron and send us to investigate an island off the coast of Northrend to confirm that he's there. It's been a long time for us to not be thinking about him when he still represents a very real threat and is surely meant to be a major villain of the saga.
Otherwise it's gotta be housing, but I'm not sure what it actually represents about housing. An early release of housing for preorders is possible, but that would mean there aren't houses in Quel'thalas which I think would be a very odd choice.

Imagine if we get a Mario Kart type of mini-game in WoW, that would be incredibleNintendo would probably lose their shit though.

You mean the usage of items during races or? Cause races aren't Mario Kart exclusive lol

What makes you assume that? Cause 11.2.7 is releasing in the winter?
For all we know, Midnight could come Spring of 2026.

I'm thinking March or April, personally.

Housing is a midnight feature and they updated the roadmap to change the rune into a small House.

I assume its gonna be part of the prepatch.

Harrowsdeep seems like it would fit perfectly into TLT (since it's in Northrend- where we're returning in TLT- and Iridikron's plan revolves around waiting for the Titans to return), so I can't really see it happening here.
If it turns out to be representing housing... it's been pointed out that it's on a map, and people have been trying to match whatever's covered with an existing continent, but all I can really make out for sure is that it's off the coast of something. So, maybe player housing could be implemented as a new island that we can settle on? Can anyone recognize the shoreline at the bottom right there?
Also, if that rune really is housing, I wonder if that and the timeline turning Fel green could be two completely separate hints, with both Legion Remix and early access housing coming around the same time.
Edit: Just saw the icon change right after posting this, it definitely seems to be housing now. And the map underneath it seems clearer now and appears to be Northrend.
So maybe we could be settling on Northrend with the Scourge defeated? But then how would that fit with the return to Northrend a couple years later? Honestly, I'm having trouble seeing how the icon and map can fit together.

Wait...this could be really sick! Imagine your cars needed repairs or else you can't drive them. That'd be kinda cool.

Tbf here, you could have TWW start in building up Iridikron for TLT.

Midnight potentially coming early 2026 is actually insane...
Could this mean alpha might be out as soon as Midnight's revealed? Could be a first for WoW.

Why Northrend when it's getting updated two years later? Is it not after all?

if they follow the 18 months expansion cycle, midnight should be released in feb-march 2026
