    DK - Northrend/Arthas.

    Worgen/Goblin - Gilneas and Kezan.

    Monk/Pandaren - Pandaria.

    DH - Burning Legion invasion/Illidan.

    Dracthyr/Evoker - the dragonflights and Neltharion's legacy.

    Earthen - Isle of Dorn.

So for Midnight it would probably have something to do with elves.
Worgen and Goblins pretty much had nothing to do with the main story of Cataclysm. They had their starting zones and then slipped into obscurity for the rest of the expansion.

BfA had highmountain, nightborne, lighforge and void elves available at launch. None of them were really related to the inital story of BfA. Kul Tirans and Zandalari weren't unlockable until 8.1.5 despite being heavily tied to the expansions main story.

This is a requirement that doesn't really exist.

    Goblins were relevant in :

    Winterspring
    Stonetalon mountains
    Azshara
    Northern Barrens
    Tanaris

    Worgens were relevant in :

    Tirisfall Glades
    Hillsbrad Foothill
    Silverpine Forest
And that's being generous by not counting Ruins of Gilneas as an independant zone

All of these races released in 7.3.5, aka not BFA.

Forest trolls have the longer pedigree of being requested, due to being a Warcraft 2 race and all. Them and ogres are the only ones from WC2 with no playable representation. Heck, we even got dragons before them in dracthyr

If I gotta choose then, yeah, I'd go for Forest Trolls as they've been requested longer

Forest Trolls seem like they could just be part of the Troll customization.

Devs already said they want to bring Dracthyr level customization to the other races - seems like Forest trolls could be accomplished with a bulkier body & green skin.

I think there are only really two ways we could get playable ethereals in Midnight:
    1. One of the base zones is K'aresh or another location instead of being in Quel'thalas
    2. All of the work is done to embed them in the story before Midnight's release

I don't see (1) happening because it would split the "continent" in half, and every time an expansion has separated zones with loading screens or other travel between them it's poorly received. I could see it if part of K'aresh or Telogrus Rift were teleported to Quel'thalas, or if they implemented some new technology that worked flawlessly to transition between the areas without it feeling too clunky, like one of the zones having a Void version where the ethereals can live. But I'm not sure how much they want to digress from the elf storyline--(2) would mean we don't need the ethereals to feature heavily in the base story but can still be present in the greater plot without distracting from the elf storyline. We would also know if it's possible by the end of TWW.

Maybe re-read my post? None of those places have anthing to do with the main story of Cataclysm?

And as your later point, that does what to exactly to prove Ethereals can't be apart of 11.2.5 or Midnight?

Really hope we get some news about 11.1.7 soon. Or rather more news about the upcoming story tbh. I've enjoyed Undermine a lot but I am very eager to learn more about the Void and especially Xal'atath.

Yeah april has been rough regarding lore news. But from now on it should get interesting.

This week or the next one at the latest we will know what 11.1.7 is about, and from that I'm pretty sure that we would be able to tell where are we going in 11.2.

Regarding Ethereals, I think that it is very likely that they become playable even before Midnight launches. If 11.2 is K'aresh, there would be a faction of Ethereals that would help us and eventually become our allies. They could even make these Ethereals Void wielders and link them to a new Void themed class that would (maybe) come in Midnight, in the same way that Pandas were our teachers to become Monks back in MoP.

There's a good chance that they might keep 11.2 hints out of testing, though. Just like in 11.0.7- the Undermined setup all happened in Orwenya's questline, which wasn't shown on the PTR. We had to wait until the patch actually released to see it.

And it'll be somewhat of a ride from there.

May we'll see 11.1.7 stuff, experience it in June, June/July we'll see both the reveal and see PTR direction for 11.2, August we get 11.2+Midnight reveal.

What places have anything to do with the "main story of Cataclysm" then ?

In no way, I was just correcting your inaccuracies.

Yeah, more than half of Cataclysm's storyline was all about different (local) conflicts stirring up again. The Gilneans and Goblins were also threatened by Deathwing's effect on the environment.

The new children's week quest chain has reinflated my Tinker hopium balloon. It's definitely 100% going to happen...eventually.

    Intrigued… go on :3

I’ve seen the datamined battle pet which I find quite curious for children’s week, but the quests lean further into the intrigue? I guess without spoiling, all Undermine related or are we exploring more of the tech of WoW?

Oh oh oh, it’s live, have to check it out then!

We met that particular ascended before, including before the ascension.
