That's a problem then, innit. They did new characters in the past that were liked from the start and players cared about, like Bwonsamdi, Devos or Denathrius
I wonder why these new ones from TWW are met with indiference or negativity

Where Faerin is concerned, I don't mind the black amputee bit but wow her design sucks, especially given she's in a culture that's otherwise pretty good aesthetically. The shape language is all over the place and creates a totally fucked silhouette, and the little greebles all over her design just seem uncoordinated and sometimes superfluous. Her color scheme is just off from what the rest of her faction has too. Her hair looks way too modern, a longer curlier design would've worked better—a headdress might've also served her well to give her a stronger silhouette. She's a terrible case of "MOBA"-type design where the armor is concerned.
The whole "prosthetic shield" thing and her choice of weapons is also just stupid. Yeah, absorb a blow with your nub and shoulder. I can't really suspend my disbelief around that as much as I can e.g. Illidan's blindness. You can pull the classic "blind warrior" trope, but you can't get me to believe Faerin doesn't break her shoulder every time something big hits her comically oversized tower shield. If they wanted to cut off her arm, they could've either (a) done it at the forearm and just had her take the Shattered Hand approach with that being her sword arm and the non-amputated arm being the shield arm or (b) just had her amputated arm be useless and have her fight with a one-handed weapon. A dexterous paladin with a cutlass, arming sword, estoc etc. would've been more interesting and different from what we're familiar with, anyway. If they didn't want to go that route, giving her no shield and just giving her a flail or a mace would be perfectly fine.

She's got the coolest design I've seen in a long time, for a human (well, half elf I think?), she's often portrayed as a badass in cutscenes/artistic representations and in game... she's soft and smooth, it's super lame. If she had a bit more character, she'd be more appreciated, but she seems pretty generic at the moment.
Seriously, Faerin's scars should be the norm with the license's iconic characters. This is World of Warcraft for fuck's sake, there should be a lot more scars and amputations! It should even be part of player customization.
All you can do is the eyes, you can't even choose scars (unless you choose a hideous face that has them). We should be able to choose limb amputations like arms, hands, legs and feet,... with the possibility of putting a mechanical or magical prosthesis in their place.
Just imagine if we could do that for Midnight, it would be a pure banger !

You know I was thinking about Faerin's short story, which moved me to tears btw, and specifically the part about the queen in the story using the magic to restore the afflicted to their prior form
I wonder if faerin will end up using this power to help the undead or black blood corrupted neurbians in the future
Do others agree with me that the news about Faerin and Craishae wielding fire like fiery weapons is a clue to the next class? Are we heading for a guardian/spellblade type class that uses magic weapons, with perhaps a mix with Void archer like Alleria? Or am I just imagining things?

Ngl, a lot of games lately have given up strong willed women characters, and while that is fine and all, you can tell AAA gaming companies have kinda overdone it, and in the wrong way, mind you.
Faerin kinda feels like a subversion of that, where she's tough and everything yeah, but she's also nice and pretty damn chill.

That more-so screams "future Paladin hero-spec" if anything.
Wow, that poster was quick to pull the racism card. To me it looks like none of the new characters in TWW were big hits. Maybe Xal'atath, but she's not really new and the reason she's popular is because she gets the "void mommy" crowd in a frenzy.
Fan art is a pretty good indicator if a character hits, and well...

I am REALLY excited for this week! I have kept myself "spoiler free" (ironic, I know) from 11.1.7 story (all of it). So, I'm pumped for that. I'm also pumped for the potential of FINALLY getting news for 11.2. HYPE TRAIN!
Oh yeah... it seems a lot less exciting now, but it makes sense.
I don't know, Craishae was a descendant of Quel'Thalas nobles, the instructor did make the distinction that there were no paladins back then, so sacred flame is different enough from Light as such... who knows? You're probably right, though.

I wonder if “unifying the elven tribes” refers simply to the half-elves, hence the use of the word “tribes”. I don't think the night elves are going to play any part in this, or at least not as important as people might think. Because, well, they don't have much to do with them.
If the High Elves of the time mixed well with the humans, which is consistent with the lore, it would make a lot of sense. That's why we're going back to the arathi story for the patch 11.1.7 ?
Hey, I cared about Devos! I think her VA was phenomenal and she had great potential as a character.

My reading of that was that she became the first paladin, so definitely would make sense as a spec or hero spec. Some kind of ancient version of each class for a new hero spec would be really cool!
- Warlock: Nethermage
- Mage: Tidesage (the only thing I can think of represents the historical transition from shaman/priest to mage)
- Druid: Child of Cenarius
- Demon Hunter: Spellbreaker
- Evoker: Chromatic Warrior
- Warrior: Barbarian/Gladiator
- Paladin: First Flame
- Death Knight: Gorefiend (or something more Maldraxxus/Maw-flavoured)
Monks would be something bard-like based on their lore (dancing, drinking, telling stories), but no idea what to call it. No idea what could be done with priests, rogues, shaman, and hunters, since they're all pretty primitive in their own right.
In my head its a bit of preparation to give the light more nuance. So when we defend the sunwell and "banish the shadow forever" we don't have the naaru and lightforged as sole saviors. Because this would be very problematic for us.
Also lightsmith and herald of the sun are already very close to that idea.

Paladins and Druids get so much lore it's mental. I do enjoy a lot of it, it's not a complaint, but these 2 classes in particular really stand out.
Made me wonder if we will ever see Monks or Pandaren be relevant again. Both have just stopped existing pretty much since MoP ended. Can probably say the same about DHs too tbh.
