I don't think it's boring, i think Blizzard just kinda failed to fully cash on the underground theme.

They setup some really interesting things with the nature of Beledar, the underground sea, the Black Blood, Elun'ahir, the World Core and the secrets of the Titans/Keepers.

Only to end up doing fuck all with any of it and just send us off-world.
Lots of nice world building, but now who knows when any of this will get explored further.

I wish they'd continued the Archive quests at least...

Nothing stops Blizzard going back to those plots later. Most likely in the Last Titan (yes, they are writing the plot for the third xpac in the Saga).

Heck, we are dealing with TBC leftover plots. TBC, 2.0.

there's a ring called "whispers of K'aresh" that drops from the last boss (soul scribe) in the eco dome dungeon with flavor text stating "though her weakened words reached only one, her message reached across the stars" and you do a quest with her that has her attempting to do the ritual to contact k'aresh's world soul

could she have been tricked by xal'atah into hearing azeorths song instead??????? any other theories ?

I'm aware that they are working on the entire saga, and of course some of those plot points are gonna get revisited.

But that's exactly my issue, i'd much rather they kept a consistent expansion theme throughout this expansion and have us explore those plots to whatever degree now than be forced to wait several years for a conclusion.

Rootlands probably be TLT minor content. After all to dead with any World Soul things - you should go for the Core. And around the core are Harranir and Rootlands.
    Subplot for titan stuff.

But they are using consistent Saga theme, they are plotting the story. K'aresh will lead directly into Midnight. We already know how Midnight starts, the Void won and invaded Azeroth something something Sunwell and we are going to ally with the forces of the Light to stop them.

Obviously, this is Metzen's decision, because I don't disagree with you, the planned xpac was changed during its development (Blizzard already said it several times), with Metzen basically "love what you guys are doing, all the new lore. But this is the new plot, we are going to deal with the plots left behind like Undermine, K'aresh, and the Titans, and it will be three expansions." Metzen himself told people needed to wait as this would be different in a interview a year ago, he already knew how some people would react.

There are other routes to the Core, like the gigantic Titan holes in Northrend. Reason why we are going back to Northrend in the Last Titans.

Anyway, been scouring the last several pages and the lore revelations are juicy.

Also, i find it interesting that Dimensius bottom is covered in swirling faces.
It makes me question just how singular of a being he actually is.

He is city sized and growing. The first ever planetary boss we will face. The question is how the fuck we stop him?

Yes, Xal will absorbe him into the Dark Heart, I know.

Eh I think of the biggest complaint about the story historically is the constant narrative blue balls we got in past expansions because the story kept ending in cliffhangers and we had to wait for the next patch to get the next snippet; the general mismatch of story pacing with the medium they are telling it in. I cannot fathom how people think that "It's a trilogy, we'll find out later" is a good excuse for the story moving slowly. The solution to the story moving slowly is not for it to move laterally instead of forward . . .

Metzen already talked about it one year ago.

Interesting though that Midnight will, outside of a potential trip deeper into Telogrus, take place just on Azeroth.

I would guess it is easier for them to not blue ball if they actually design the story for 3 expansions in advance rather than doing random expansions then trying to somehow make it make sense.

    Sure. It's not a solution.

What would make it work is for there to be narrative payoff in the patch instead of everything just being delayed. Instead of having to wait one expansion long for the payoff, now we have to wait three is no solution.

Yes, but you know in advance there is going to be payoff, because they design around it now. They don't just throw shit and see where it lands. They have a set target now so everything they do now has a purpose.
It is hard to write a story where you have to have thing revealed almost immediately. Things should last and simmer a little so that people can care about it.

I think it is great art but it is not Warcraft. It is far too cartoony. Sure Warcraft has cartoon elements but that's Azathoth by way of Looney Tunes.

The artstyle would obviously need to be changed, but the basic design itself couldve absolutely been used. Its not like they havent done exactly that before - N'zoths design came from HS too.
