That's why I hope for multiple expansions set (lorewise) in old world. Even if somehow they would manage revamp in single expac, it would mean scale remains the same, and many places deserve Quel'Thalas treatment.

Well... we don't really know what the "Quel'thalas treatment" is at this point.

With the mention of specific zones in Midnight, should we expect continent-wide updates or more local updates?
Mostly local. With the detail put into modern zones, it's just not feasible to do full updates. Really want to focus and put our full effort into the specific areas related to these expansions. Expect a fresh coat of paint on specific area, but also that older versions likely won't be completely removed. Think Chromie Time.

If QT is being scaled up and the expansion is solely that, then we'd be talking like 6-8 more revamp expansions to actually update both continents, if Midnight is all of northern EK (I don't think this is likely) we'd still be talking probably ~4 more expansions. That's 6 expansions in a row (Midnight, TLT, and then 3-4 more) of just updated old zones, and it would sort of half to be in a row because if they're interspaced, by the time we get to the last one we'd be almost as far from Midnight as we currently are from Cata.

I really think people need to give up on EK and Kalimdor ever being updated on the continent level. I think you're more likely to see Darkshore/Arathi style updates on rare occasion (like maybe Elwynn and Durotar getting spruced up with Neighborhood release since they have some of those assets) than anything actually cohesive, even in a piecemeal fashion.

Unless they do SMC AND the new Draenei flying city, Neutral SMC is 100% going to happen.

It really depends on the zone scope and what we're looking at in terms of invasion. It could end up the Suramar of Midnight, we could have Stratholme for the Alliance, It could be divided into Horde East SMC and Alliance west SMC.

Sweet, excited for the reveal stream. I am not as hyped as I thought I was gonna be, part of me is just expecting more of the same like we've seen in Dragonflight and War Within. Getting a little worried over how formulaic everything has gotten, it has mostly killed any remaining interest in Diablo 4 for example. We already know what the next D4 season is gonna be before it's even out, some reskinned borrowed power with a renown you have to grind for the same rewards as in the last 8 seasons.

I don't think we ever lose in this franchise, so everytime I see the "we lose" thing I just chuckle. Ion has clearly outlined we can't lose because it'd make people playing sad and so they aren't going to do that.

Its' time to let go, there's no N'zoth in the blade, Xal'atath in the Dark Heart, Xal'atath Void Lord (okay maybe, but she probably just loses her powers and goes independent leaving the planet probably after). Its only a simple story to get to the next theme and settings by defeating bosses to sell you the next box set and that's fine.

There's very few times in which it is reasonable for us to lose. Losing to the Legion means our entire planet is reduced to a charred husk, losing to N'zoth meant the world becoming a twisted hellscape. Losing to Deathwing meant nearly all life on the planet being extinguished. And losing mid-narrative just means we have to come back to that place and win, because what are you going to do, have the Thunder King win on the Isle of Thunder or Elisande win in Nighthold and now the island or Suramar are just forever a hostile place? We obviously have to make another attempt (see: broken shore) and unless you're just going to have players lose the same fight over and over, you have to win on the repeat.

High elves as a neutral race would be pretty funny, I'm sure horde mains will love that, but I would be disappointed with no forest trolls. And just making them another raid (though, considering legacy of arathor campaign, think they are off the table)

Also another elf exclusive class. My god, it's like they just are avoiding any idea that isn't 100% safe. Like come on, give tinker or void knight or something, jeez.

Amirdrassil was just made last expansion, it's not gonna get updated, and Suramar is one of the highest visual fidelity locations in the game, there is also no reason to update it.

Harronir and Arathi aren't elves. The former are closer to dark trolls, and are extreme isolationists confined to an underground location not on your list, with the only one even willing to actively engage with outsiders being Orweyna who is concerned with underground dangers, the latter very specifically do not consider themselves elves, so they have no reason to unify, they are also only a small expedition of a large zealous empire on the other side of the planet so they are similarly not getting "united".

Not even reskin to be honest, both Blood and Void Elves have this as customization, just new name and racial. But you can bet some people will be hyped about it for some reason.

Few pages ago I said what I would do - merge some races (Mag'har + Orc, B/V/H Elves, etc.) and let us pick subraces for flavor that we can change just like different Zandalari loa. This way we could add stuff that currently are just customization like Sand/Forest Trolls, Wildhammer Dwarves, Man'ari and more.

Funny you mention this, I watched that live and I remember everyone going crazy over artifacts reveal and DH's.

I still have a youtube video of the whole event and chat reaction I watch from time to time for nostalgia. I was 22 when legion was announced. Can't believe its been 10 years lol, just feel old.

No real reason for that. We know what the raid entails, it doesn't directly lead into Midnight or anything, and we've had expansion reveals prior to final major patches being released.
