Anyone else notice that the Cinematic murozond uses an updated model?

No way blizz.gonna make a new model for just a cinematic and not an encounter.

Got me some juicy details about the future of WoW.

There will be no patch 10.3. Patch 10.2 will launch right after Blizzcon. Patch 10.2.5 will be the last content patch. The expansion ends with a megadungeon where we fight Xal’atath. She wins and resurrects Galakrond, which causes ‘the second Cataclysm’.

The next expansion will be called Tides of Darkness.
Theme: Void invades Azeroth, main antagonist is Azshara
Setting: South Seas + EK/Kalimdor (light revamp)
Some important characters: Thrall, Yrel, Iridikron, Azshara, Illidan, Sargeras
New races: Vrykul for Alliance and Mok’nathal for Horde
Fourth specs for original classes (example shaman tank spec)
New mount types such as underwater mounts and boats
    Class halls return

I would not call BFA south seas. There was certainly some island themes and such but not that much South seas if at all. It was mostly Alliance vs Horde some pirate themes, trolls, a lot of war then Old God Shennigans. Its not like we did a lot of sea exploration(Island expeditions sure but you barely stayed there).

Glances at Deathwing's humanoid model in Cataclysm

Well ok not a cinematic but I mean they sure did make that and only ended up using it in that one questline, really.

Underwater mounts have existed since Cataclysm. Almost 13 years ago.

They have hinted at Tel'abim and something out west with Kalimdor's position on the world map moving though, plus Kezan remains unexplored fully, the goblin starting zone and Motherloade aside

Yeah but at least his model was used.

This Muro model has yet to see any game time.

It was used in a cinematic. The Deathwing model didn't really get more than that either, and that quest was pretty much just a joke to begin with.

Cinematic isn't the same as an actual game use.

The only exception is sargeras but even then it's because he's the size of a planet.

Every time an noc has gotten a face lift it's been for an in-game reason

To be fair they did have more plans for the deathwing model with there being a quest on the beta where he meets Alex using it and you fight him in it before they fight in dragon form in the twilight highlands.

All of that was cut though excluding the dragon fight of course.

Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.

obv troll, but overall i think vrykul and ogres/mok'nathal will be the next 2 core races with their own starting zone experience.

Also i think blizzard might even "connect" some reskin AR with core races, that use the same model to free up some space.

There's such a vast difference between Stranglethorn Vale and Zuldazar. Not just in the quality of assets. The way the landscape, the foliage, the weather (sky boxes, rain, etc), the sound design, lighting, mist, music, and a bunch of other elements come together is pivotal.

    Hot take 2:

If they revamp the world and bring Dragonriding everywhere, they really need to let their design philosophy around flying mature. It is not enough to simply design zones like the Dragon Isles, and then slap Dragonriding on it.

The reason is that something is truly lost in the world design, since Dragonriding made its debut. The zones of the Dragon Isles may be pretty to look at, but they do not offer the same sense of immersion as previous zones such as Zuldazar.

Because you just fly everywhere easily, Blizzard has been lazy with design. There are far fewer wonders and amazing landmarks. There isn't really a natural progression across a zone, from the point of view of a traveler anymore. You don't begin your journey on the simple dust road, make your way up the hill, gaze in awe at the imposing mountain in the distance, or truly feel the immensity of a place anymore.

Just compare your first experience of Kun-Lai to Azure Span. Kun-Lai is dated in several ways, but it's still much better in this regard.
Have to agree. Despite how gorgeous the Dragon Isles zones are, they lack that certain je ne sais quoi, for me. Very attractive to look at, and were very fun to explore at first. But despite their size, they lacked that sense of immersion and wonder for me.

I’m sure several here will disagree, but they don’t compare to the Broken Isles, Zandalar, Kul’Tiras and Draenor for me.

Dragon riding is a huge positive. I think it’s one of the best additions to the game. However, the zones could definitely be designed better to both accommodate and enhance it.

Unrelated, but here's a crackpot theory!

The essence of N'Zoth is believed to be stored within the Black Blade of the Empire, after it was used to stab him by Wrathion.

The essence of Yogg-Saron might until recently have been stored within the remains of Galakrond, as he was created by drinking waters contaminated by the Old God.

The essence of Y'Shaarj was until the end of MoP stored within his heart, which got destroyed. However, there is speculation the Black Blade of the Empire is his claw, so his essence perhaps lingers.

Can anybody think of a similar item which might hold the essence of C'thun?
Perhaps it was already injected into the world soul when the sword passed through the body of cthun and then, covered in cthunnes went deeper into the "body" of Azeroth?

Whoever wrote the Blue Dragonflight questline needs to have a promotion so they can write the main story.
