If the cinematic isn't action focused and doesn't include Xal, I'm done. Tired of the standing and talking cinematics that have plagued the game since DF.

I am fine if it doesn't include Xal but i really hope it does NOT include Anduin or Sylvanas but does have action. Metzen's words back when he announced the Saga and the new official words used of "monumental opening cinematic" i am really really hoping for some good action. This is World of Warcraft afterall, can we get some spells being casted or something?

Real warfare action to be specific, DF would count is "action focused" cinematic too after all. I want to see something like WoD/Legion/BfA with their TWW skills - we got a taste of that with battle scene in Diablo IV second cinematic.

Pretty sure they already confirmed all that info will happen right after the cinematic.
So I’m pretty sure everything wow related will be on Tuesday

The trailer and gameplay reveal 'stream' (more like YouTube premiere) are on the 19th. However, there are panels including developer panels (that are likely recorded and maybe even being streamed) during the convention itself as well, so more info might come out in the following days too.

While it does come right after the opening night, that's still a good hour, hour and change before that happens, I imagine, so we could be in for a serious roller coaster of fake leaks in that short time span, I'm thinking.

I'm willing to bet it'll be a pre-recorded Warcraft Direct type situation. There is no stage with a live audience at GamesCom that day that isn't the ONL stage (and I don't think WoW is a big enough deal where people would stay after ONL).

They released a whole article 3 weeks ago. Cinematic and gameplay will be shown during ONL and then we get twitch/Youtube wow stream for deep dives.

So essentially the Developer Preview is in a Warcraft Direct style after Gamescom Opening Night Live but we will also probably get Interviews and or Panels at a later date during Gamescom week.

Basically like they do at Blizzcon when there's an expansion reveal. They just didn't want/need to host a Blizzcon this year.

Which makes me hope next year's Blizzcon is one of higher quality, and not just in game reveals but customer satisfaction as well.

I'm still going with the idea i posted here few weeks ago and also on the wow sub that i think the Midnight cinematic will be Velen's vision from Prophet's lesson from years ago, maybe a bit changed here and there. It would really live up to the "truly monumental opening cinematic".
At the very end of the cinematic we could see a fully rendered Velen opening his eyes (like he just had the vision again), looking up at the sky and see it tear open above Silvermoon, with fear on his face knowing his vision is about to come true.

I also thought we might get something about Midnight concerning Velen’s prophecies, in the form of a CGI or animated short.

I feel like Velen's prophecies don't really hold world-scale weight post-Legion, considering the end of that expansion was very much about Illidan teaching Velen that people can break free from "prophecy" and forge a better outcome.
