There is a sky above it, it's definitely not a cave. It might be a very deep valley, a sinkhole or a drained lake/seabed.

I have to say though, this caught me off guard, and I suspect many others as well. With the void storms everyone was looking up.
Who knows? Maybe this will be deliberate in the story itself? Xal sends void storms to key areas to divert the attention of people from her true machinations.

That's my thinking as well. You can kind of barely make out some spiky bits pretty high up that look a bit like a circular cave wall leading up to a sky, but it's not super clear. Some kind of drained sinkhole might make sense. The Undersea or the sinkhole of Hallowfall could fit but again it seems so weird to send us right back there.

Actually, the majority were saying Azshara showing up would make no sense nor would be fitting for an expansion set in Quel’thalas. Stand in your business people.

Me too. I'd feel extremely vindicated after defending Azshara inclusions making total sense in many ways for multiple pages. But alI get in response is 'she's not a blood elf though'

Those just look like the generic void plants in the Black Blood zones. Do people think those birds are fish or something? Do people think that figure is a naga myrdimon? It's a player character wearing paladin aberrus tier shoulders. What about it makes people think underwater?

Nah fam, look at the bottom left corner. That looks a lot like kelp to me.

Unseeming was themed after Nyalotha and Nyalotha was themed after N'zoth. It is very aquatic looking. This is my character in High Hollows with an inky black pot to turn down the reds.

I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I agree with you that it feels far more likely to be some sort of phased Void nightmare area than a drained Naga zone. Or maybe even a straight pit into the world. An empty sunwell?
