From The look of night elf empire map the Amani we’re pushed out of the area of Strom/alteract long before the humans showed up. And unlike QT which is stated to be troll land Strom is notably referred to as human land that the trolls were making incursions into instead of the other way round so the trolls didn’t retake it after the night elfs left.

So while ya it’s technically troll land it wasn’t the humans who pushed them out of it and the trolls didn’t really care about it leaving it to the humans for 8000 years prior to the troll war.

hmm, we're missing the time span between the sundering and the troll wars. I would assume the amani reclaimed that land after the sundering. but that is a bit of a blank spot.

In new devs article was said that 4 military groups are Silvermoon Court/Saltheril’s Soiree - four of Silvermoon's military factions. So I think its not about any Alliance faction or Army of the Light.

which 4 ? and why do they have an Aldor/Scryer like situation? If they are all Silvermoons direct military groups, they shouldn't be as hostile as Aldor/Scryer was.

Did Blizzard make an Aldor/Scryer comparison, or is that assumed? As far as I know they only said "Burning-Crusade era reputation".

it was stated in the panel about it, and the reference to "BC era reputation" is aimed specifically at Aldor/Scryer, which they named in the panel too.

It is Saltheril's Soiree. It sounds like a social event. Saltheril had a party while most of Eversong was under attack by Scourge, Trolls and Wretched and mostly cared that his wine and bloodthistle shipments kept moving. So it sounds to me it is more about noble house politics than actual military clashing. E.g. how the Windrunners always dominated the Farstriders, perhaps we find that other similar houses dominate specific military wings.

social politicking wouldn't made sense as they were clear in the panel and the blog that it is about helping a military group.

Ngl, I completely forgot about how they handled the Earthen.

Basically they didn't handle them at all lol. You unlock them via questing and then you choose Horde or Alliance via the character chreation screen. there are a few Earthen in Orgrimmar, Stormwind and Ironforge and that's it.

That's because most of the questlines outside them are pretty terrible. The insurrection storyline was amazing, but let's not forget how 7.2 had actual jack shit for campaign, and that your fill of narrative came in two burts of questlines, once for the new Order Hall champion, and once for the new mount.

One thing I love about Legion structure is separating raid/season from new zones. Currently season last ~24 weeks, but whole story is resolved in first 2.

Of course it was crap in 7.2 when they forgot to put story beyond intro. They should just scrap 7.2 class chapters instead, main story should always have priority.

i was thinking that too, about the undermine rep. But no, at least as they made it sound, it works like Aldor/Scryer or Oracles/Frenzyheart, where you loose reputation with one group, but gain it with another.

No, but I would consider them part of whatever nation took them in. The problem is canonically, if any High Elf retainers organized to defend the Alliance, they work for Umbric & Alleria. Even if you RP as a it doesn't make mechanical or contextual sense for them to have their own faction.

Also, could you enlighten me about the origins of that claim, that all Alliance High Elves now serve Alleria and Umbric? Because I'm pretty sure the Silver Covenant is its own thing under Vereesa, and I doubt every Dalaran and Theramore refugee turned to the Void.

Definitely. I know why they stopped, but from a narrative perspective it flowed so much better to have the raid open during the X.5 patch, rather than with the rest of the major patch. Gave lots more time for the story to gradually unfold, and lead organically into the raid.

Now of course, that was only really the case during Insurrection, but still.

Vareesa quit. That's why we haven't seen her in TWW. Arator explained she's effectively retired in his dragonflight short story. She's somewhere raising her kids.

There’s only 3700 years unaccounted for, the Amani could have reclaimed the area in that time span but they then ditched it again 7300 years before the dark portal as that’s when the high elves arrived and the humans were seemingly living in peace (or more
Likely out of the way) with the trolls as the elfs stayed with them for 500 years and had no problems with the trolls until they pushed in land to found QT.

So while ya strom would have been Amani land pre night elfe and they may have even retaken it in that 3700 gap by the time Strom was founded as a kingdom it has been abounded by them for 5-7 thousand years.

It also made it feel like we had to build up forces and gain control of the area before we attacked the main target

I'm no expert, but wouldn't they be able to simply build on top of the current Amani Midnight model if they wanted to make it playable for later?

Maybe @Marlamin could answer that one.

I can only really operate guesses like that based on existing model data to look at and there's none of that right now, so I'd have to come back to that in a few weeks.

well, it could have some politicking, if it includes non-silvermoon groups perhaps. Like the leaders of the Silver Covenant, Sunreavers, Void Elves and Blood Elves are invited, and they go to a heated politcs scenario, at the end of which, the one group you supported is in charge of defending the eversong area for that week? I could see that, or perhaps instead of that the group is protection all of eversong, you help that groups district to defend?

Damn, i really want to know more about what that event really is.

Not weird at all. All of those military groups are run by aristocrats/nobles who have their own agendas and it would be very normal for them to be using a social event to try and get resources and assistance directed towards their own group, or trying to have their own group put in charge of the city's defenses.

I also liked the Legion release schedule, the campaign leading into the raid made the whole experience a lot more immersive/enjoyable.

Nowadays it's a complete mess, you see the ending before finishing the campaign. All because people wanted to do everything in a couple weeks so they can complain about lack of content.

And it would work even better with the current release cadence because it would be 8 weeks in instead of 13 weeks in. An 8 week campaign is far less stretched than a 13 week one after all.

I'm not completely bought in on High Elves having a massive mark on 12.0 just yet. Blizzard seems to be leaning very heavily into Void Elves and Blood Elves being the main dichotomy here in the Thalassian society.

Also-- didn't we see the Arathi at Blizzcon? Maybe not their proper models and such, but they spoke about them and Hallowfall quite a bit.

I really hope they let the void elves expand beyond being a bunch of purple guys in tents and give them an actual home that isn't a camp ground

I have to imagine that'll happen this expansion. Either they find a way to resettle in Quel'thalas, or find another rift somewhere to build a society.

I expect Beta before 11.2.7 launch. Judging from TWW Beta popularity on launch, they won't have problem with gathering enough people for stress test.
