Yes haha. I mean, in theory it's coming back later (atleast they said that with pandaria) but we still don't have a date for MoP 2 so I would rather get everything done in the first run.

Given that our knowledge of how Outland "works" is basically "A Shaman did it (and he really shouldn't have)", i'm not getting my hopes up for any kind of meaningful answer to that. Obviously the Naga would want to prevent it from happening, but how or why it doesn't happen is both outside the scope of our presence there and probably not on anybody at Blizzard's mind.

If Blizzard isn't willing to answer those questions then Blizzard shouldn't actively send us to the old world without trying to move the story forward.

It's a bit interesting to consider similarities between Warcraft and LotR.

The first elves awoke around lake Cuiviénen. The God, Ilúvatar, created the first elves.

In Warcraft, the first elves awoke (at least figuratively, as they evolved from Dark Trolls) around the Well of Eternity. It was said Elune watched over them, but I suppose it is unclear these days if it was mostly her or the worldsoul doing the heavy lifting.

The Naga prophecy also speaks of an awakening, to take place once Xal'atath has the Dark Heart.

Could the Sunwell be assuming the role of the Well/Lake since the original one is gone?

Is the awakening supposed to be a similar event, but perhaps reversed? If the Sunwell is corrupted, could Xal'atath awaken the elves and other beings as her shadowy servants?

The most interesting outland related question is why it hasn't blown up yet.

I can assure you it isn’t that deep.

It will amount to Xal just wanting to attack Silvermoon purely just to fuck with Allerua because she can and that’s one of the things she want. Because unfortunately that’s the depth Xal’atath’s character has been reduced to. It might also serve as a distraction for her true goal of infiltrating the world’s core so she can consume the world soul herself. Yay.

you mean totally fallen apart. Well, nothing mayor is there anymore. The horde and alliance aligned people probably evacuated most of it as well as Shattrath funneling people away. In DF we also help the netherdrakes to realocate to azeroth. Some of the native people like the Arakoa and ogres might stay behind as long as they can. But it is just a matter of time until no intelligent live will be left there.

I wonder if someone would take it upon them to relocate plant and wildlife of outland to some location?

    Well, it did.

    Now it's just slowly disintegrating.

What would even be a good way to revamp Outland at this point? Certainly doesnt seem like the kind of place we could go for an entire expansion given there is no reason to assume there is anything there but even less compared to TBC.

I could honestly even see it as a patch zone for Midnight or something. Where we return to Outland to evacuate the remaining denizens, as well as stop the dastardly plots of whomever is there.
The world revamp dream will never die!

The novel Blood ties will give us an update on Outland and some demon presence there. I think they are cooking up so it can be in an expac after Last Titan. Outland would be a perfect place to do another demon expac since the timing is ripe. What, 9 years between BC and Legion and by the time Last Titan ends it will have been 11-12 years since Legion? (fuck I feel old)

Have a follow up with Illidan and a return to Outland would hit hard thematically and could serve as the stage for another war against demons.

If that triggers people then oh well.

The Golden novel featuring Outland, demon hunters being brought back in and Illidan and Sargeras both being guarantees for TLT makes me think there's a high chance that the Legion or Outland pop in in a way similar to how the Shadowguard showed up on Argus as a minor side-threat before their main appearances now.
Dickmann's Law: As a discussion on the Lore forums becomes longer, the probability of the topic derailing to become about Sylvanas approaches 1.

Tinkers will be the next Class confirmed.

Not seeing it. The answer isn't really important and wouldn't have any meaningful impact on the story anyway.

That's literally why it's called Outland now rather than Draenor, even.

Return to Outland could also work for the inevitable return of Yrel as a villian; somehow she comes to her universe with her light army - sees what happened to our Draenor thanks to the orcs and the legion and concludes her crusade is needed, would make sense the arathi would join her cause and that would be perhaps how they can introduce the emperor/ the arathi empire in full, whoever they are

I kinda think they will, or will by TLT alpha. They are going to simplify classes and raid/dungeons with the loss of addons. I look for them to bring it back closer to WoD class design levels which would be fine with me, but maybe an unpopular opinion.

they could always make hearthstone's ashes of outland cannon with the Rusted legion led by Mecha-Jaraxxus was it a goofy way to revisit outlands... yes yes it was but would atleast be a bit of a twist on the legion & im pretty sure Jaraxxus went missing after the broken shore

I wonder how many expansions we’ve gotta go before people drop the “Yrel is gonna come back as a villain!” thing….

Were you around when people argued till they were blue in the face that WoW would end when we hit character level 100, and that we would then get WoW 2? Cause probably for the same amount of time, that is, until Blizzard makes it clear with their actions that such a thing will not be happening. So we might be here for a while...

This weeks' Ecological Succession quests finish the storyline, and it currently ends without much fanfare, but Ve'nari does not do the "all hail the Maw Walker" voiceline. Hmmm..

She does say this, in text:

The Oasis has surpassed my expectations, <name>, and I had very high expectations indeed. Your work has been invaluable.

I never suspected when I met you in the Maw that we would eventually end up here. To be frank, I expected you to perish many times over by now.

Regardless, I believe we have all the species we need for our little slice of K'aresh.

Now we just need to work on stabilizing the eco-system and ensuring it thrives.
So it's not like the Shadowlands bit was scrubbed entirely.
