Make an excellent MMO first then worry about aniversery later. (I mean make game dev goes smooth for the game first and don't try to make a fancy aniversery line up at Blizzcon but at the cost of the game).
Yeah for sure. Just like how the pulled off the amazing 10th anniversary expansion.
10 bucks that some executive asshole interfered with WoD's development.
Not saying they shouldn't do anything for the anniversary, but...

It is true that the 10th anniversary was a dissapointment. Nevertheless, WoW really needs some attention at the moment, and the anniversary is the perfect opportunity to do so and in a big way.
It seems that they do not want to let the game die for the time being, because DF, for now, is the more supported expansion in WoW's history. So if they do not take this chance to make something truly big they are just stupid beyond salvation. In many ways, the anniversary is WoW's last chance to be relevant again.
Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.

I've always viewed Dragonflight, and continue to view Dragonflight, as World of Warcraft's:
1). New beginning (goodwill expansion).
2). Setting up the foundation for future content (story, systems (talents, professions, flying, UI, etc.))
3). The expansion that will either retain/bring "some" players back, but more importantly, drive home the NEXT expansion (in terms of patch cadence, story direction, system updates, etc.), so that 11.0 can be the "big expansion" that will ultimately "save WoW"

And yet Thros remains, going so far as to invade Ardenweald in an attempt to bypass their torturous immortality.

Might be that explains it, yes.

Seconded, sorta.
If they can keep the woke stuff contained succesfully then i could see them make a good restart.
This is a signature of an ailing giant, boundless in pride, wit and strength.
Yet also as humble as health and humor permit.
Furthermore, I consider that Carthage Slam must be destroyed.
Xal is the Harbinger
Gathering fragments of old gods influence to raise the 5th old god which is her
You see when the other 4 tore the 5th apart it left a fragment in the blade of the black empire as a kind of sentient fragment
The other Old Gods absorbed part of it's power and traces were left in things like galakrond and the piece of flesh in sark's room
Gathering all pieces will revive the true Xal'atath
Yogg: the power drained from galakrond
Ysharj: the heart
Cthun: ???
N'Zoth: the Naga queen
I know it's not gonna happen but damn would it be better than what's coming
It is not impossible that there is another Old God hiding out there.

What if she doesn't turn into an Old God, but a being of pure void? I say this because of that one boss from Tempest Keep who turned into a giant voidwalker midway through the fight.
I'm not against the idea of a 5th old god, but what if Xal'atath doesn't intend to be an Old God but to transcend into being a true Void Lord?
Lore wise there is
Everything else Is speculation and mostly based around lines from Xal

Yeah but the writer's will frame it as some super surprise reveal

Exactly and her gathering things like Halakrond's "hunger COULD be a way to regain power
Heck she knew magic that would restore a physical form so it's not like she's a nobody in terms of magic
I thought G'huun was the 5th old god, but I guess that's not it then.
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.

The Old Gods are all part of the Void faction. They might war against each other for some time (like N'Zoth who single-handedly fought a war against C'Thun and Yogg-Saron), but in the end they all share the same goal of corrupting Azeroth and are united in that drive. So, it makes sense for Xal'atath to say "we" and "us" because they are all part of the same faction. And it so happens that N'Zoth was the most successful member of that faction by far, as the one who came closest to corrupting Azeroth.
N'Zoth's prison is literally called the "Circle of Stars". That line from Legion was referring to the fact that N'Zoth was stirring in his prison (reiterated at end of Emerald Nightmare raid) and was close to freedom. On top of this, the Titan mechanism that was placed by Azshara to free N'Zoth had cyclical movements and patterns.

Part of the reason is that Battlegrounds are like ducks.

Shath'yar is the name of the language void creatures speak...
It's not an individuals name.

'Shath'yar' is the Shath'yar (language) word for 'old god/s'.
