Speaking of Remix, this is probably a minority opinion but I like that its timegated. I never got to do it when it was the current expansion so now I get to do the campaign in the order it was meant to be done, instead of getting dozens of quests as soon as you land in Dalaran and not knowing the order to do them in.

I saw some people covering it on bsky. It's a bunch of legion-specific fel items, like a fel fountain...a demonic book, a fel cage, etc. Lemix is really tailored for anyone who wants to rp a fel maniac.

WoD's direction didn't "change" so much as they just trashed an entire patch & raid tier. Abandoning a seasonal arc isn't the same as replacing it with a new one. Like you said basically everything up to the end of Sanctum would have been locked in when Afrasiabi was fired.

That's the opposite of what I'm saying. They were revising and messing with those decisions with Golden as the pen AFTER that point.

Also, no, WoD absolutely had major things changed besides cuts. Yrel's entire romance with Maraad and her implied SA by orcs, the far more green and extensive Gorgrond and railroad, it existed in early iterations.

It's unrealistic to save a bad story with a good ending. All things considered 9.2 was pretty good.

Was it? The content was decent, there was a lot to do, we had a new biome or two that wasn't a grey Maw shitstain with ruins attached, but the plot was the same as it ever was. There's a reason "what is to come" has been memed into true death oblivion.

True, but people were pretty happy with DF's content. You also got to remember that narrative lead was never a position he wanted. The role was pretty abruptly dumped on him, per Afrasiabi.
Absolutely not. The WoW development pipeline is way longer than you seem to believe. Metzen announced his leadership of the Warcraft Brand in September 2022, and it was reported he was back working at blizzard 10 months before that. That means Metzen had about twice as much leeway, at least a year longer on TWW's development than Danuser had on Shadowlands.

DF had good content due to good systems being introduced. As far as cultures and world and the central premise, all the things he lists as his baby and his creative pride, were all abjectly awful. The centaur in particular literally feel like automatons and not in the weird 3D printer progenitor way.

I will grant that "Guards, arrest this handsome wizard" is an absolute fire line, though.

Aside, I don't know why we're giving this guy anymore grace than we give anyone else beyond being contrarian. Metzen eats plenty of criticism he deserves too.
