Midnight 12.X Patches & World Soul Saga Speculation Thread

That's one hell of a StarCraft tease!

Marine in the key art and "hell, it's about time" at the end of the trailer.

I think we'll see:

- The Last Titan OR at least 12.2

- Classic+ maybe somehow connected to retail as an alternate timeline because of Midnight or something (remember Xal'atath in SoD)

- StarCraft new game.

- Hearthstone expansion.

- Major OW2 roadmap with some kind if story overhaul.

- Hopefully a HotS update.

- Perhaps a D1 remake?

- D4 expansion with the Paladin class.

- Something beyond the ordinary, like a Netflix show.

I am pretty confused where the new game mode landed. It could fill in some time in early 2026 before prepatch, but its' pitch as a spooky Duskwood game mode would've fit perfectly for Halloween. Just curious what the intention is. Excited for it regardless.

I honestly don't feel like this mode is needed along with Remix and also the regular game (yes it still exists). If it was coming with 11.2.7, it would have already been announced.

I feel like they teased it super far in advance.

Well, credit to Golden for salvaging Genn's storyline. He has Tess sit on the throne in Gilneas but he also goes to serve as Lord-Commander of the Alliance while Turalyon is gone.

Also, "teasing" Blizzcon ticket sales of all things is dumb. Glad it was just a day away.

Considering Undermine, Karesh and now Atal'utek, 12.2 can be any random thing that is more or less tangibly connected to the launch storyline. If it's Lordaeron that is definitely worthy to reveal at Blizzcon.

I do wonder if 12.1 will not have any new map assets if it truly is just Atal'utek?

The only reason I think Atal'utek is on the map because it'd break too much suspension of disbelief for a giant island to appear 5 feet to the right of where we've done World Quests and Dungeons for 6 months.

Midnight was announced about a year after TWW was released. But who on Earth is ever going to look back on old YouTube videos from Gamescom 2025? No one.

BlizzCon in the past would generate a dozen hype videos of excited crowds reacting to the new cinematic. Stuff like that sells expansions, and builds the community. That BlizzCon excitement (TM) is like the glue holding us all together over the years.

So while the TWW timeline would place a TLT announcement sometime in February of 2027, I wouldn't rule out an early reveal entirely. There's a chance all of this Worldsoul Saga mumbo jumbo lets them do pretty much whatever, and we know they want to make shorter expansions.

Maybe TLT comes out in the spring or summer of 2027, with Midnight being sort of a quick stop-gap of an expansion?

I still think there's a remaster for the pleaguelands on the way, either for 12.1, or 12.2. To me it seems like the most logical move, and really prefer to have old zones revamped with modern game philosophies, than new unexplored zones.

Yes. She's basically leans into nature magic instead of only the arcane. She just never abuses the Well or summons Sargeras. The Sundering never happens and the Kaldorei Empire never falls.

There was a time when Azshara was a benevolent queen to the Kaldorei. There is a timeline where she even stayed one.

or they use it for the .5 and .7 patches. Like Darkshore in BfA. That would make it more flexible to slot before and after Atal'Utek, with the 12.2. patch being something new and big
