Gotta step up speculation game. Your 10.2 timeline together putting for this week didn't land very well.

To be fair, my “timeline speculation” is accurate in terms of “guessing” based on announcements/dates for 10.0.7—->10.1.

However, maybe Blizzard decided to change things for 10.2 onward. Who knows?

10.2 “should” be announced this week based on the timeline. Patch 10.1.7 cinematic “should” also drop this week based on the timeline. However, again, who knows? It’s possible that the encrypted story in 10.1.7 is significant enough relating to 10.2 that they are holding off on announcement.

In contrast, the encrypted story of 10.0.7 didn’t matter (to them) because they announced 10.1 before 10.0.7 dropped.

Order Halls are abandoned Legion feature that won't get updates.

Allied Races are BFA feature and won't see updates several years after the expansion.

And Dragonriding is a DF feature that you claimed will defo not be extended past it. And how did it turn out?

Five years after their introduction, I'm of the mindset that allied races were firmly a BfA feature and aren't coming back. I guess technically a Legion feature, but their introduction and advertising were all BfA-centric.

Most of their novelty were extra customizations that immediately felt limiting once the next expansion added a bunch of new customizations for the original races that then got partially backported to the allied races. Playing a restricted version of an existing race doesn't feel great and I believe it's also limiting to any potential racial content since nearly half of each faction is taken up by offshoots now that you can't neglect too much.

What are you guys' last minute predictions and/or wishlist for tonight, in case 10.2 is revealed?

My wishlist for 10.2 is actually having a more interesting zone than 10.1 Caverns, because caverns is honestly one of the most boring zones ever created in my opinion - Ye it's cool they tried doing the underground zone, but the ideas they put there, story and gameplay wise just ended up being a big disappointment, besides the upgrading system.

The niffen race with weird fetish for sniffing aren't that great either.

I really prefer the idea of the Dream zone being covered in frost and snow than yet another fiery invasion, especially coming right off Zaralek. That contrast would be a perfect response to the criticism that the Dragon Isles zones currently feel a little too indistinct and plain visually.

I'd add more stuff to do and yeah the Niffen given an entire zone wasn't really necessary. They should of focused on the Black Dragon Neltharion's Shadow theme more then Niffen.....stuff.

Just saying: they didn't tease 10.1. It just dropped on Twitter, a casual Wednesday night by 7pm. That's not saying 10.2 will definitely be announced tonight, but it could be.

I really hope this is they way to do it moving forward. No one knew it was coming so they couldnt really be ready for the usual "let down" from a stay tuned blue post. Also the excitement that night was intense! It made it fun

I don't think 10.2 will be released after blizzcon, because so far they tried to keep a pattern of 8 weeks:
10.0 released : Nov 28th
10.0.5 released : Jan 24th * 8 weeks *
10.0.7 released : March 21st * 8 weeks *
10.1 released : May 2nd * 6 weeks *
10.1.5 released : July 11th * 10 weeks *
10.1.7 releases : Sept 5th * 8 weeks *
so let's say they are releasing every 8 weeks, 10.1.5 was 2 weeks late but 10.1 came 2 weeks early, so Ideally:
10.2 will release : Oct 31st, to keep 8 weeks cadence
this will allow them to fully talk about something else during blizzcon, and have the raid open after blizzcon, so it wouldn't collide with their schedule.

now for a potential 10.3 weather it's just a fated like season o brand new raid, should come like this:
10.2.5 will release : Dec 26th ish to keep 8 weeks, could be either pushed one week early or two weeks later to stay off holiday.
10.2.7 will release : Feb 20th ish
10.3 will release : April 16th ish
10.3.5 will release: June 11th ish
10.3.7 will release : August 6th ish could be pre-patch if 10.3 is just a new fated like season
making the 11.0 somewhere after Oct 6th, seems too soon, but could a pre-patch dropping at Oct 6th, and 11.0 follows suits allowing them to talk about 11.1 in blizzcon

I think it would be a wasted opportunity, if the Emerald Dream zone didn't have portals to all the OG groves with dream gates. And if it does, perhaps we could get world events around these groves in the old world, defending them from the attacks of the primalists.

We all know the Dragon Isles are big, but empty in civilization. apart from a few abandoned towers and tents, the islands are essentially large wilderness areas. I'm extrapolating from that fact that it's to focus more on the next expansion since it took, in my opinion, less effort to develop.

It's a smart way to allocate more resources on the hypothetical world revamp...

This is just a theory, so calm down anti-revamps. I see you coming.

It makes sense from a "dragons live here, they can fly" perspective. I hope this trend does not continue. Its good to have space, but when 90% is empty, it doesn't work. It seems they only got part of it right when it comes to designing new zones like the older ones.

No, it does make sense. That and things being worked in the files that don't make sense for Avaloren or a new continent, though the boats can go both ways.

For example, the Nelf inn model got an HD revamp in BFA you can't even normally see in the Warfront. And the human inn in the files. Why would these be in a new continent?
