On older Windrunner family - they shouldn't. I think they will be kindnapped and brought to World Core by Knaifu.
I think Turalion will sacrifice himself to kill Xal by radiant burst of Holy Magic after seeing Xal torture powerless Alleria. Maybe he will even outlive that, but for "MUH DRAMMA" he will die.
But I hope for happy family finale. With proper wedding in Cathedral of Light in Stormwind.

When was the last time we had a really significant hero death, though? We had the twofer for Legion, albeit Varian had an actual arc conclusion - Vol'jin was absolutely unceremonious shock value. Are we gonna count Saurfang? He became significant solely to die.

I don't ever really feel like anyone is in any danger, Khadgar was an instant "sure, Jan..." when it happened.

Not to say they specifically should bite it.

Thrall has the worst odds of making it through the "saga" of anyone, IMO.

Alleria dying after insisting she has everything under control, losing control and almost destroying her homeland is good writing. It's not "shock value". It is consequences for ones actions.

The only remotely important character that has died since Saurfang in 2019 is Locus-Walker which highlights the issue that yes Blizzard used to kill off characters and blow up cities too often in the 2010s but now we have the opposite problem where everyone feels safe which has culminated in the cycle of Xal'atath repeating the same plot over and over. And it even feels like a stretch to call Locus-Walker remotely important when he showed up for part of a single patch prior to his K'aresh appearance where he just whined the entire time and then died. Xal'atath blew up Dalaran and the most notable casualties were a couple profession trainers

Not related to that but if the leaked voicelines are accurate then that just paints a bigger picture of how weird the new story is. I bet in the Danuser draft for TWW Xal'atath was going to corrupt Beledar fully rather than fail which would make sense as it's already underground and they'd probably say it was pointed at the Worldcore but now with it being the Sunwell the pivot back to underground feels weirdly repetitive

They should figure out how to write actual characters first before they use death as character development.

I love umbric and rommaths yaoi rivliarly tbh, also there's a whole side quest about a magister joining the farstriders and helping reconnect with the spirits of the forest, and one of the animals involved is a bear

Really getting some blood elf druid vibes from it, there's also two big ass trees in ever song now. There's also def something up with the naga I feel, they're super charging themselves with the mana crystals they're being smuggled by the blood elf smuggling crew and also kidnapped a ranger with specific dialogue calling out they left him alive

Which, since the original incarnation seemed to be a Naaru ship, means that TWW had a climax...involving the corruption of something Naaru adjacent, making it very, very similar to Midnight.

    ...what are we doing?

Turalyon should only die on a Varian level of epic sacrifice (meaning a high quality cinematic as well).

I'm confused, do you mean he's more likely to be villain batted or less likely to be villain batted, for seeing his allies turn against him? Because shorter odds mean an increase in likelihood.

    I'll just say my piece:

I hope it doesn't happen. It was trite, it was obvious and Blizzard's not exactly developed a stellar reputation for believable descents into villainy. Sparing us that is a small mercy. To me, it seems like a far more efficient use of narrative resources to rather create a Light based villain from the ground up.

I found the Umbric and Rommath audio again, as good as the text is imo you need to hear the hilarious tone in their voices

Rommath: "Let's get this over with. Umbric, in light of all you have done for Silvermoon, I hereby return your research materials."

Umbric "It's Magister Umbric, actually. But it's good to be acknowledged. My old harmonio. You kept it?

Rommath" Well, a lot of work went into it, and you did earn it."

Umbric "My old workspace! Complete with nullification runes and enchantments! "

Rommath: " That desk was a menace. It kept eating magic items we left on it. "

Umbric "Wait, does this mean what I think it means?

Rommath "To show our gratitude for your aid, we... I... I'm awarding you this property as an embassy for the Rendori."

Umbric "You are actually letting us back into the city regularly? Willingly?

Rommath "I still do not approve of your research into the Void."

Umbric "You gave us our equipment back. That is literally you approving of what we do. You approve of me.

    Rommath "I regret this already."

    Actually amusing writing.

Blizzard continues to do way better with the side stuff.

Actually, come to think of it, since Xal has actual charisma, Fyrakk is still an entertainingly mean 2D bad guy even if he's a terrible final boss, Denathrius is enjoyable... Is the modern issue isolated to heroes, especially lead ones?

That tends to be when the saccharine power of friendship/complete conflict aversion is most common.

Like, I'm digging Astalor's stuff. Feels like a different game.

Validation seeking nerd and the disapproving Tsundere.

I wonder how many tentacles Rommath would allow in their in their shenanigans.

Which property Rommath refers to? Magister s terrace ?

I believe so. Their tiff factors into the dungeon.

I guess the better wording would be the odds are poor. Not that the payout is going down.

He's not getting villain batted is my take. These guys suck at subtlety and nuance and he isn't screaming at Arator and being a generic domestic abuser or some shit. Compare to Lothraxion in the Voidstorm questing, who I could tell you immediately was a dungeon boss even if I hadn't been spoiled ahead of time. Every stupid neon arrow points to him with every line.

I mean Lothraxion's new character motivation in Midnight seemed to be "Sargeras was right to make war against the Void Lords but the Fel was the wrong power to ally with; Light is just a better choice vs Void"
    Which yeah, villain.

Its somehow even much worse. We welcome Void Elves into Silvermoon. With Silver Covenant.
    What a mess.

This was the inevitable outcome the very second Metzen mentioned "reunifying the elven tribes" back during Blizzcon.
Idk why you are surprised by this.

The problem here is more the pacing and lack of development to reconcile their differences than them actually being in Silvermoon.

I more think about loosing Horde city. Its hard proof that Silvermoon is fully neutral city. With red ghetto.
Where these posters who claim it will not change? Why bother with Silverwing Refuge, when all will live in Silvermoon?
With Silvermoon been neutral and grudges unresolved - it is large spit in face for that 20 Horde fans remaining and huge Alliance victory. Well done blizz, good Horde expansion. 10/10
