I haven't been playing wow for a week or so now, checked out the housing collection window on launch day and all of the items i saw didnt have a source location. Was i just happening to look at unavailable decor, or is it still a bit buggy?

Part of the reason is that Battlegrounds are like ducks.

Would it be correct to assume that Housing hasn’t been quite the smoking gun everyone assumed it would be?
Retail seems like a ghost town at the moment.
Legion Remix is still running, and as a time limited game mode, people might spent time rather there to get the items before it is gone. Housing will still be there afterwards.
At least that's for me when i play WoW currently.
also, some people might be neck deep in the beta too.
Then FF14 just released the latest patch.
So, there might be no desire to play retail, when there is time limited stuff (lemix, beta) or another game had a major update
In my circles, housing has been an absolute gamechanger. I've seen entire communities of people come back, including some of my friends that gave up on the game long ago. It really depends on what kind of person the player is, and in the target audience, it seems to be doing really well even though there are many issues still (as expected with WoW's first actual Early Access content) and basically no replayability/incentive to come back given endeavours aren't available. WoWDB's Housing Hub is also doing pretty well. And given the relatively short feedback loop between the housing community/housing team, and some of the ideas we've already seen (or seen hints of), I'd say the future of the feature is looking pretty bright as well, at least right now. We still have yet to see exactly how the shop operates or what the full progression experience will be at launch.
This pretty much aligns with what i have seen:
People are spending a lot of time in their houses, collecting decor etc. Even members of my guild who didn't care about the feature at first are starting to like it. The others are running remix, collecting the stuff they are missing, farming Bronze etc.
I don't really run keys atm, just with guild members every now and then. I think the season is pretty much over for most people in terms of progress, there's also not a lot of incentive to gear alts, considering it's the last season of the expansion.

I am unsure how busy it is and how these hoods work, but I rarely see any one, nor do I see other people creations. I am on a full server, but a very empty hood. Lots of them are full at least, but suck if you want a certain plot.
Anyway, I have no idea, I dont see any one in them. Maybe its busy in a guildsetup, but so far it looks empty as hell and checked multiple hoods. Its weird..
People are either in their homes or around the world collecting things.
Still, it feels like blizzard is expecting housing to carry a bit too much the expansion. Other than housing, midnight doesn't have other noteworthy features and the housing system, while good, still lacks proper replayability. People design their homes and then stop because they don't have much else to do (unless you enjoy grinding decor).
Would be nice to have the abilitiy to save layouts so one could build something completely different from scratch without having to destroy what previously built.

Very excited to see if we get the Roadmap to 2026 this week!
It could reveal some interesting stuff (posibilities of another mega-dungeon, shorter seasons).

Could be, but it all feels very closed off. I personally dont like the seperate instance stuff, but its probably not possible without. Havent seen any creations yet and it feels very empty, but thats just me checking and only doing a bit of housing.
It does seem and was expected that housing is there big thing. Devour demon hunter didnt spark that much interest so far and its quite boring. Revamped Silvermoon and all is great, but thats with every expanion. I also dont care a single bit about this avatar people race. The feautures are very sparse and once again as I always say this and again: we are doing the same things, with a different backround nothing more.
Again, all expected tbf.
Never was hyped for housing, but to my surprise : really liked it!
Made a few houses, collected stuff: supercool.
But once again phasing made it boring, and most neighborhoods feel dead and why has most people closed of their houses?
It should be open by default, and closed by option.
I don't expect mutch from housing, but I wish it felt more alive and organic

The neighborhoods is definitely one of those where finding a good one is might and day. My guild has a decent amount of people who enjoy creating stuff like that, so there are plenty of cool stuff to see.
Whereas the public neighborhoods are, as I think many would expect, filled primarily with those that checked it out once, then left.
Want a good neighborhood? You will have to look for one
The world revamp dream will never die!

You guys need to remember that only people that pre-purchased the expansion online can have a house, I'm still waiting for my CE xDD Once the pre-patch comes out, and the actual expansion, everyone will be able to build their house and the neighborhood will fill up.

I actually didn't find any.
But i've to say that i've been put in the guild neighbourhood by default, i didn't even noticed it before looking at its name.
It seems many of the guildies didn't pre-ordered, or maybe it's a phasing problem, but not sure if this happen on guild neighbourhoods too
