Can't deny ever since that PCGamer quote, I've now become even less likely to believe any deaths because I mean.. Then again, it seems the Reaper will pay a visit to some sort of Warcraft Character at some point but whomst and whence that's the question.

I no longer reply to quotations beyond if you're asking a genuine question or have a non-confrontational stance.

I mean if they kill everyone I just posted, that's a ton of deaths- just none really are that big besides Delas Moonfang, and even then she's a literal who to most players. I can see them killing a ton of named NPCs while leaving the darlings safe (Anduin etc)
i'm not confused at all. I just question if things are set up to mislead us. Like, things are obviously coded in similar things, yet nothing is clearly said "yup, thats azerite, yup thats Azeroth". It feeds into the whole uncertainty of all the NPCs about what is at the core of Azeroth, at what Sargeras aimed. The obvious and simple answer is of course Azeroth. But no single in game NPC confirmed it. Like, no one at all. The closest would be Magni, and even his account is a bit suspicous.
Also, dude, calm down. This is a fun Speculation thread. Let me speculate.

Mhm, I mean it is possible its a mass casualty event but I've always felt strongly based on all the Soundtrack and stuff that Alleria is about to go through the ringer but then I was like "Oh wait, but the Windrunner Sisters reunion" and so my guess came down to Turalyon even if I groan at another character assassination in short term solely as justification for what is conceivably a pointless death beyond again reinforcing that male characters have it pretty bad in Modern Warcraft.
But, again it is also possible that deaths are not even coming until 12.2 or The Last Titan. Even so, I also maybe think the Quote was meant to just be used as a hype generator and keep people on their toes rather than actually anything concrete. But who knows.

speaking of speculation:
doing the sidequest and finished with eversong
- the setup of the farstriders and the nature spirits is certailny interesting. i dismissed the question about thallassian druids, but that gives some creedence to it. And especially to farstrider druids. Over a few quest we see farstriders who are not simple hunters, they have mages and warriors among them too now. And overall the Farstriders and Halduron specifically seems a lot more levelheaded, also regarding the faction stuff. During the main campaign, Halduron calls Turalyon family. A horde leader calls a alliance leader family. There is some brewing going on. Also, the datamined NPC Hurried Courier <Messenger of the United Elves>, is quite clearly a farstrider. I could see the farstriders being the bridge between the factions going forward. Which makes sense, since most of the alliance high elves used to be farstriders, rather than magisters or other thallasians.
- On the westerns side of eversong are a few quest regarding the naga. They deal mainly with them acquiring arcane magic. And they are seeming sending it somewhere to the west. There is also a high elf NPCs in the files that was not added yet to the game: Captain Elleane Wavecrest. Why is this connected? well, to the west (and south) of everson is the high elven outpost of Silverglade Refuge. If the naga are doing something to the west of eversong, and a high elven captain (she commandered ships in the past appearances) missing, it could be some type of patch content down the line. Something like siren isles perhaps.
- Winderunner Spire dungeon was a fun little excursion into the three sisters and this is a very likely setup for something down the line too. Likely tied to the probable return of Sylvanas

I understand you mean "care about the lore/story"
But well...
Maybe if the characters were impactful on the story beyond "hi I exist" most characters are like the iron giant in storm peaks. Where they just exist and Is basically a living statue to the point some badass looking fighter that doesn't communicate and just go mass murdering people have more of a better everything.
Killing off glup shitto s doesn't have an impact in a game.

I just realized we don't have access to the Suramar delve yet. I think it's possible that they are going to confirm that the Horde factions have actually all been busy with their own shit and that's why we don't get in touch with Thalyssra yet during the leveling campaign.
Doing sidequest in Zul'Aman, just done Revantusk one. For small Lilaju, leader of the tribe we meet her male protector - Idago. This sound like Dune reference, with Duncan Idaho and Alia.
Dickmann's Law: As a discussion on the Lore forums becomes longer, the probability of the topic derailing to become about Sylvanas approaches 1.
Tinkers will be the next Class confirmed.

Besides this not being the case in the earlier portrayal of the Amani loa, judging by their ZA lines, which are soft-retconned to be the trolls themselves, the loa did participate in the Troll Wars directly alongside the trolls. And other loa obviously take sides and politically aid their people. Shadra and the Vilebranch, all of the Zul'gurub loa, Rezan helping Talanji destroy a fleet, both Rezan and Bwonsamdi being direct patrons to a set kingly line. Gonk and Paku being totally fine and supporting their high priests sending minions to kill each other's followers. The Amani loa not doing so and indeed not doing anything through the calamitous collapse of the Amani while the only character to criticize them is cast as inept and mostly frustrated makes for a weaker story.
Re: @Nymrohd's point it's completely immaterial if the Amani loa could have reversed course themselves (though honestly I don't see why they shouldn't, Zul'jin almost won in Blood of the Highborne without their help), but that they do not contribute directly and observe and permit mass killings of their subjects until they are appeased and the narrative still casts them as wholly positive. It's a weak plot point and applies a double standard relative to the treatment of Light and Void. Even Azeroth, despite being a vapid cipher, is given more consideration as causing lasting issues with her presence and absence from how the Haranir deal with her being gone and their entire pilgrimage being pointless.

I don't really expect it. Much as I'd love for Calia to be liquidated, Blizzard didn't seed her with a Scarlet (a living one at that, tsk, tsk, Blizzard, at least go full tilt with the idea, I've got some tips) for her and her ward to die off. I expect this to be a Dalaran tier cop-out with no named characters of consequence dying. I wouldn't even really want say, Anduin or Velen to die.

The other one (Parhelion Plaza) is because it only happens when the Void takes over the Sunwell.
