what should be:
- xal invade and takes power of the Sunwell
- all elfs unite against the big danger
- now we have dawnwell
- everyone hugs and promise to leave differences behind to help grow elf neighborhoods
- side quest appears
- you talk with vareesa and she says "it's time to go home"
- side quest about realocating elfs in Quel'Thalas
- you unlock themed weapons and decor bc you are finding homes and they are happy.
- end.
Not if you look into the nuance, here.
Again, I refer to Ercarp's visuals.
Imagine shamanistic elves first of all. That is unique. Elves are rarely seen in that context.
Now imagine that they're the first WoW High Elves to finally get their face paint.
Now give them that kitschy 80s vibe with a headband, bright blue and earthy colours. Like a frigging aerobics instructor. Combined with the face paint it's borderline glam metal.
Big, frizzy hair, side-braids, etc. We're talking the cover of a D&D manual here.
Now picture them in a windy sitting. More edgy than Void Elves. Darting across the sky on their winged steeds, almost giving off Flash Gordon vibes. Lots of emphasis on cool poses, leaning forward on their mounts, being playful with their friends in the air, challenging dragons over who's the fastest.
This is obviously an extreme example and you should be able to look like a regular old elf as well, but the vibe can certainly be more than just "elf dwarf", lol.

Unless it's just a cutesy "what if Nelves could fly??" Hearthstone-esque idea (or actually something from a future Hearthstone expansion!) I think it's most likely that the Skyborne will be evolved Harpies.
I mean, getting 2 new playable elven races introduced within the same year span as K'aresh and Zul'Aman would cause all my capillaries to burst, but god would it be funny.
This was what I thought as well. Even if it is literally a Hearthstone idea that they sell on the cash shop.

In the quest with the Arathi elf girl and her human lover she mentions a distinct elven culture in Arathi
Though tbh I've been thinking the Arathi being a turn of the 20th century America vibe with the frontier being brushing up against a wild forest/jungle from rampant life with wild elves and dragons living together, and then being wind aligned dragons and elves would be cool, and they could be dragon riders too

There'll be a point were most playable races are OC races copy-pasted from the classic ones where they'll have all the lore and current plot relevance and we'll all feel we're playing a china WoW copy or something. Well, that basically was base TWW, with temu dwarves, temu human paladins and temu night elf druids.
Not every race/species we encounter needs to be playable.
Allied races have taken so much development time just to to add unnecessary bloat to the game. But maybe that's what sells expansions, what do I know. Although looking at the charts... they're all at the bottom of the lists. All besides alliance Blood Elves ofc.
They really should've stopped at Goblins/Worgen. Everything after that has been a waste of resources in my opinion, resources that could've gone to much cooler stuff in the game.
Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.

The recent Blue post feels like they are going to introduce some kind of way to encourage grount mount questing, which is really cool. Also nice QOL to just unlock steady flight for the forseeable future.
My hope is for Prey to eventually become proper Heroic World Tier, with no flying, and being the mode required for certain achievements. As well as being where you can find treasures.
That way you can have the WoD-SL style explorable open world. And still have flying for those that want it.
The world revamp dream will never die!
Reminding you what ercarp's concept looked like:
