For that matter, Cataclysm can also be considered one, what with it replacing the entire original world.

Though it'd be funny if the Iridikron fight ends with him trying to summon the Titans, failing, and then us just going "yeah duh, they busy" and him being completely incredulous that we know them personally.

    Oh ye of little faith.

I for one am all aboard the new world/south seas/pirates/customisable ship train.

I’ll definitely not have egg on my face when Yrel’s Light invasion is revealed at Blizzcon.

It just shows a complete lack of imagination.

    - Euron Greyjoy being a sadistic, Machiavellian, sorcerer pirate king who has a horn that can controls dragons, the seeming ability to control sea creatures and manipulate storms, as well as fleets of warlocks on his ships. That’s not even scratching the surface of what else we may see if the books are ever finished.

    - Black Sails which is a television show that works as a prequel to Treasure Island as well as shining a light on the Golden Age of Piracy. Captain Flint being a former Navy Lieutenant who turns his back on England after suffering at the hands of the monarchy, resulting in him attempting to abolish the monarchy.

    - Multiple portrayals of pirates in fantasy book settings such as the Liveship Traders, the Tide Child trilogy and the Gentlemen’s Bastards, to name a few.

The above are just a small amount of examples of Pirates that don’t fit the silly, camp interpretation of Pirates that we often see. There’s so much breadth to what Blizzard can do with them, that I just think it’s ignorant to disregard the theme and pigeon hole it.
The thing is: Blizzard quality writing can hardly deviate from Jack Sparrow.

You know what's funny? People complained about Blizzard timegating stuff in the past, but now that they basically do it again with things like the "Secrets of Azeroth", the blue dragon questline or even the dragon races - but call it an event which gets put into the calender suddenly everyone is ok with it? Really shows that presentation is the key lol.

Yeah, I'd argue I'm way more fine with that as they announce it well ahead of time and in-game through the calendar or a countdown as well. Prefer this method of timegating much more over the initial renown unlock method where the only way to do all the story in the first week was to grind dirt for several days.

I agree! It's just interesting how people complained about the whole "timegated" content in the past but now that they call it an event (which, unlike normal events in wow stays forever) everyone loves it.

I just assume that people complain becasue they like it. And that they don't even check the stuff they complain about. They stop at first triggering buzzword in the feature description and quickly go posting angrily.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

That sounds about right. Same thing seems to happen with all features in WoW at some point. Useage of the right buzzword is key, no matter how incorrect it is, or how many beloved features it also applies to.

There is a difference between a side content event thats basically a detective type of thing, where you get clues each day and main content that gets locked behind artificial timegates.
People would complain just as hard if the Tyr quests were marked on the calendar as an "event", where you would get one quest each day.
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.

It's still content that is timegated, the Tyr Questline is just more pertinent to the main story. Had the secrets been more relevant to DF specifically it wouldnt be much different from an actual questline, just not one using normal quests.

Oh yeah, same with patches. If there is huge patch with timegated stuff, everyone say there is no content after week of that patch. But if you split it among small patches, people see it as constant stream of content like with DF and Legion.

But it is. That is a significant difference. Having timegating be intrinsically part of something because of its nature is a lot more acceptable than artificially trying to tie it in. Main content should not be timegated. This event is not main content.

This seems to work succesfully on a lot of people, as we've seen a few pages ago where "some people" tried to imply that DF has more content than other expansions because it has more frequent patches

Big overture, little show.A truce amongst the Bronze & Infinite?? Wouldn't that mean allowing a multiverse to exist? Is that the pop culture trend they're going to mine for 11.0? WoW Multiverse of Madness?
By better threats I mean like chromatus and galakrond

Yes they are smaller but they have symbolism and lore behind them including galakrond being the first threat the aspects faced together and chromatus being a still living threat that the aspects couldn't kill

I'm OK with time-gated events over time gated player power and msq

It's a weird thought but I'm actually fine with less content in an expansion overall if they can keep this content cadence going.

Yeah, I mean it all depends on how you want to look at it. On one hand, we could go back to a “huge” major patch with very little in between it and the next “huge” major patch. Tons of content, however, the issue is when you start to get “bored” and have to wait 3+ months for what’s next.

Alternatively, what we have now is “smaller” patches overall (even the major ones), but we get “new content” every 6-8 weeks or so which means you don’t have to “wait long” for something new.

    To each their own.

Oh, I see, another "last response". If you think that DF has less world content than Legion of even SL, I can't really help you, it's pointless to argue further.

So are we all in agreement that all this pirate abundance means 11.0 isn't pirate themed

The "Hunger" is the essence of Galakrond Iridikron was retrieving in DotI.

The "Heart" is the Void Artifact he got from Aberrus, Chromie called "like the Dragon Soul"

The 2 key parts of his ultimate plan.

Surely every old god will eventually return. But only because the developers can never decide if they're dead or not. Y'sarrj was killed but just came back as a ghost. But also who cares? Every old god is ultimately less of a threat then they ever seem.

We won't know until Christ Metzen or someone else comes out with a pirate hat on stage, but i hope not.
