I get the feeling that they avoided answering that question because the answer would inevitably be a spoiler. Fyrakk is the big remaining threat right now, so telling us that there would be another patch would pretty much confirm that Tyr's return would just create another conflict.

This is hte main reason I doubt it. They've had some good press, but it's all hinging on a rapid release schedule and not repeating the primary mistakes of the worst expansions. Two patches is the sure sign of a failed expansion. They'd piss away all their conditional good will for no benefit, not even time-wise, as producing a half-assed last patch (lol Cataclysm) is easy and they managed to push out DF in a functional state a lot faster than expected.

Do you really think people will care about no Adventures of Alexstraza patch if they show HD Silvermoon, Lordaeron, etc? Really?

Maybe some people will ask for a refund, which I get, but people would want that WAYYYYY more than 10.3.

As I have said before, the only thing that could possibly appease another lost major patch is a world revamp, and they can't announce that offhand in an interview for obvious reasons.

AotC mount is definitely a harsh blow to 10.3 though. Sure it could be a new thing, but feels weird.

Though then again, the Tyr questline still doesn't look like it will be resolved any time soon, so let's see.

Incorrect again, my friend. We now know that the Emerald Dream is the counterpart to the Shadowlands and/or Ardenweald, and they're both part of the Great Cycle which spans all worlds.

It has forever been described as a spiritual realm which, while it can be seen as a verdant version of Azeroth, is ever-shifting, mystical, and intangible. Half the point is that you're inside a "dream" when you're there.

Yes, by the Night Elves, who are constantly drunk on their own pretense. The Keepers coldly describe the Emerald Dream as a copy of Azeroth where nature was allowed to grow without interference.

The Great Cycle shifts anima from Ardenweald back into the world of the living. Like Azeroth's Elemental Planes, the Dream is not present on all worlds: They are essentially pocket dimensions the Titans made for us, for better & worse, as it looks like Botanical Infections occur in other worlds, like the everbloom & botani, which can be extremely hostile to other forms of life.

The zone IS in the emerald dream.

Are we absolutely sure about that? You can see elf buildings in the footage of the zone. That's directly against the concept of the Emerald Dream.

They did not confirm 6.2 being the last patch of WoD at the time if I remember correctly. There was a lot of speculation about Farahlon but we know what happened in the end.

Seriously if 10.2 is the last patch of DF, this expansion would go from being one of the top ones to one of the worst.

Hopefully something new will come out of the interviews, because, fuck, this is dissapointing.

Maybe the issues that they had with their developers were worse than we believed.

There was never any doubt that 6.2 was the last patch of WoD. The Iron Horde were being finished off, alongside dealing with Archimonde, Gul'dan and Mannoroth. There's no way we were going off for a side adventure after to fight Botani on Farahlon. We knew Farahlon was cut as early as launch. They proceeded to make a joke about it by adding it as shipyard mission.

I suppose a chunky 10.2.5 with lots of improvements to Time walking and such might be enough to tide players over if the promise of 11.0 is worthwhile enough. We know that Fated raids are a proven concept, so that could be added once Amirdrassil becomes stale.

It would be a real quick in the balls after DF was pitched on the premise of fixing everything, but we shall see.

The Korean interview supposedly confirming 10.3 does put us back on track though, with the AotC mount just being a new thing they are doing for raids other than the final one.

It's BFA Jaina/Horde leaders levels of hilarious moral turns. It's made even funnier because Fyrakk doesn't even try to kill her or talk shit despite being a psycho otherwise. He just lets her head off without much trouble after articulating a fairly sensible tactical point.

Blizz should just remove these stupid weapon restrictions. Druids were using Awak’mani in VoTI, which was technically a polearm but looked exactly like an axe

Alternately, make it a poleaxe.

Though imo they should really introduce spears as 1h version of polearms. Spear and shield is a time-tested weapon combination, especially for defensive combat.

Caring about it is one thing, the effort that could go into a world revamp is another.
You are not going to be able to argue you need all the time you can get if all you are making is the same as always. Only a world revamp would command the kind of effort that would properly explain why they decided to scrap an entire major patch when everything was seemingly going so well.

I was there, in the forums. There were serious doubts. It was the first time that an expansion did not have a x.3 patch, so many would not even believe it.

Also, we are getting in 10.2 a solo rated BG weekly event.

Gearing will be around 40% slower. Items to level gear go to the currency tab. We will be able to exchange lower crests for higher crests at a 6:1 ratio.

It's about the fact of the patch, not what it is. Notwithstanding that the natural DF ending is killing Iridikron and fighting knaifu. He has been built up since day one and his utility to non-dragon stories is let's say limited to say the least. A year of no content from november on will waste all the good will, with timewalking arrangements, as per @Sondrelk being just bandaids.

What's the idea behind this not feeling like a final patch? I agree its very underwhelming but so was the Zereth Mortis patch, going further back to that so was the Hellfire Citadel patch.

I don't think we can completely rule out that this is the final ''big'' patch and that the expansion ends with a juicy 10.2.5 which wraps up the majority of the story content.

That can include 10.2.5 or 10.2.7, the "last patch" sitatuion people are referring to is whether or not there's going to be a 10.3.

It is not clear if it is defined as a 10.2.5/10.2.7 into next expansion or if 10.3 exists.
