KEEP IN MIND!
The continent is blocked by storms that NO ONE has ever crossed. So we become storm riders and dive right into the storm. Or we crash land kinda like Pandaria
Speaking of datamining and also the spooky gryphon. A while back I tried to use .tools to check the texture blp's for the dragonriding mounts (specifically Highland Drake and Renewed Proto, but all of them seem to do this) hoping to compare them to the gryphon's to confirm that the multiple beaks thing is, in fact, an indication of customization options for different beaks rather than just some weird leftover experimentation outside the mapped bounds of the texture.
But the dragonriding mounts all seem to lack an entry ("0") for their TextureVariationFileData.
Is that because they all have variable skins and pull from multiple texture files depending on what skin color/scale type/patterning you're using? I'm just curious if the dragonriding mounts also have like, a bunch of different snouts per blp.
I'm assuming you are looking at CreatureDisplayInfo which won't have much for those mounts as they are basically character models and using the character customization system. They do indeed combine various textures on top of their base textures based on what customization options are selected. You can look through the various ChrModel and ChrCustomization* DB2s (although do that on supported tools that have modern data) to tie all that together.
Oh, delightful leaks.
"Storms" and "Dwarves" together is a very Metzen thing. He and Samwise Didier used to run a website together that they called Sons of the Storm, and it was basically filled with their art featuring, well... storms and dwarves, and other badass stuff.
Wouldn't surprise me if this is some kind of ancient love child in the Warcraft universe from ages past, which they never got to realise until now.
So we are thinking Khaz Algar as one of the zones in Avaloren then?
Khaz Algar was built on a fissure. Guess it really is the Great Rift!
It's probably worth bringing up this extract from the text about the Earthen at Khaz Algar (Sector AR-938):
Basically, what it is saying is that the Earthen of Khaz Algar, while culturally similar to the Dwarves of the Eastern Kingdoms, don't seem to be identical with them... physically. Basically, the Khaz Algar Earthen may not look like the Dwarves we know. While some have succumbed entirely to the malady, such as the earthen who emerged from Uldaman and called themselves dwarves, others remain resistant--whether in full or in part.
One particularly notable variant can be found in the earthen contingent dispatched to investigate the fissure detected in Sector AR-938 (for further details, search records related to geological anomalies).
In the course of their duties, these earthen began to manifest behaviors analogous to those which would one day be apparent in the self-styled dwarves, despite the two groups being separated by vast swaths of time and distance.
In fact, based on their origin dates, I could identify no corollary at all between these populations.
Yet while their behaviors, language, and demeanor show many similarities (for example, assigning Sector AR-938 the colloquial name "Khaz Algar"), physiologically the two groups remain distinct.
Is this distinctiveness due to exposure to the unique qualities of the anomaly, or is there another reason? We require more data before a conclusion can be reached.
