Completely unlikely but Khaz Algar could also simply be in Northrend with the Frostborn being the Algarian dwarves. They already have Stormriders and the name Algar is used by the Vrykul, perhaps one familiar with Khaz Algar.

dwarf expansion? Thats depressing. I don't think people will come back to the game to see the other side of Azeroth they've never heard of.
Looks like quite a lot has occurred since earlier today. Seems like we have a titan-based mount as a reward for the heroic edition of the next expansion, and more evidence of an elements influencing the next expansion.
I'm looking forward to the expansion reveal. Should be interesting.
i got it: thrall=shaman=elements. elemental expansion confirmed
Firstly, I doubt it'll be a "dwarf" expansion. More likely, the "dwarves" of Khaz Algar are a faction/link to going to Avaloren (other side of Azeroth). Secondly, why wouldn't people come back? We're talking "potentially" a new continent on another side of the planet everyone loves (Azeroth). You think more people would come back for an expansion on another planet/dimension/domain?? The theme can still be "elemental", "Void", or anything else.
Does anyone think this might be a sign of Dragonriding combat. Like they said "Wow isn't an action game....unless" I never liked Dwarves before but Falstad in hots is so cool. (or that they may rename Dragonriding to Stormriding once the system includes non-dragons?)
If we have normal characters and not ugly low-poly Pokemon with toad mouths, then I'll agree to anything.
You’re really shifting those goal posts aren’t you. From Yrel invasion to Undermine to Elemental/Underground to Titan/Elemental. I imagine once it’s revealed to be Avaloren/Khaz Algar you’ll find a way to argue that you predicted it.
A side note, Storm Rider would be an awful expansion name. I’m well up for more Dwarves though.
I'm not so sure about this. The dwarven aesthetic is very Vanilla-era WoW that people are supposedly clamoring for. If they pull this off well I think it could be quite interesting.
An idea I haven't seen bandied about yet (granted, I haven't read all 23k posts!) - rather than having an entirely underground expansion, what if Khaz'Algar is our way into Avaloren? Rather than the MoP go-to solution of 'hurr durr we tried to brave the storm but crashed', what if we entirely dodge the raging storm of certain death by going under it, and gradually venturing out into the new continent as the expansion progresses?
That would make the Algarian dwarves a key feature of the expansion without necessarily making it a dwarven-centric expansion.
Remember that the Dwarf theme from the mount doesn't have to literally be the theme of the expansion, just a cool thing that is present like past collector's edition mounts that weren't really front and centre of the expansion:
- dread ravens in WoD never amounted to much
- anima serpents in SL were speedy taxis
- quillen in MoP were just emblematic of the Mogu
- dreadstalkers in Legion were just mountable demons
etc etc
I no longer reply to quotations beyond if you're asking a genuine question or have a non-confrontational stance.
I could see them doing more stuff with the spin attack that gets used in pvp/fyrakk assaults. I wonder if they're gonna do with flying in 11.0 re: the dragonriding talents. If we'll get some new set of fancier things to do or they'll use glyphs to unlock different cosmetics or what.
Shifting what goalposts? Given the evidence, a Yrel expansion now seems rather unlikely. However an underground/elemental expansion has now become even MORE likely. Undermine is also still a possibility since it is a major underground location in lore.
Relax. We're only speculating here.
Another cosmic would be boring too. I was coping with the idea that we are returning to the old world, with a revamp. Going to the other side of Azeroth will be another continuation of the cosmic fight that we have been seeing for a long time. We will see that the titans did this, and that the Old Gods did that. The same as Dragonflight. I'm already fed up that we can't stop this cosmic conflict shit that no one cares about.
