The idea that "Stormbreak" would be a Dwarf expansion because a dwarf and gryphon is on the cover/the CE is a gryphon is absolutely insane.
I wouldn't really say the "Dragon Isles have been referenced since Warcraft 2" based on one multiplayer map which was called that because it was literally a dragons head.
Arguably, it was a thing since Vanilla because it was going to be a thing in Vanilla, but it really wasn't anything other than a concept until Dragonflight.
Same deal with Shadowlands. Yeah, we knew it existed, but we didn't really know what it was.
"We will soon be in a world in which a man may be howled down for saying that two and two make four."

The frozen Mind cracks between the mineral staves which close upon it. The fault lies with your mouldy systems, your logic of 2 + 2 = 4.

Why do people believe “Stormbreak” indicates revamp?
Stormbreak debunked.
As we prepared for DF, the Expansion Reveal ad had a new font-face for the "World of Warcraft" in this image
We were right in suspecting the change would be seen on an official new logo, as it was on Dragonflight.
This tipped us off to any fake leaks, and it shouldn't stop us now.
Both "of" and the "R" in the new Dragonflight logo are notably changed, and are unlikely to be reverted now that they have that Render of the text to reuse. Classic has a longer, curved R. DF has a shorter/straighter/sharper R.
Stormbreak is very seemingly just using this old vanilla shape for the "R", and even the "of" is still the small one.

i think this is something people have to remember. Every single Expansion for WoW has references already somewhere that are bigger than a single line in some book that was only very recently added.
BC - Outlands was a part of the WC3:TfT campaign
WotLK - Warcraft 3
Cataclysm - Warcraft 2 - Deathwing was already a thing back then and there was a hideous visual game with thrall that also had deathwing in it. The elemental zones were known from the Warcraft RPG. Gilneas and Kezan were also quite known already.
MoP - Joke character from WC3 turned into full Addon (this one is the closest to an asspull, altough the expac was great)
WoD - Return to pre-WC1 Draenor, but a well known place
Legion - Broken Isles were a small part from WC2/WC3, but not totally unknown
BfA - The Zandalari Empire and Kul'Tiras were longs known locations.
SL - Referenced during the life of WoW
DF - Dragonisles longs known, part of some WoW Vanilla Map even
Any Expasnion based on Avaloren/Khaz'Algar would have next to no understanding in the wider playerbase to get an idea of what is to be expected. Which also brings the big risk of not getting hype for it.
Just let us have this. Dwarf fans have had so little for so long. Though there's a good chance Dwarves don't even appear in the reveal cinematic: Shadowlands didn't show any of the Shadowlands besides the very tip of Torghast. WoD cinematic didn't show any of Kul Tiras or Zandalar. Legion was just the broken shore, etc.I am now fantasizing about a punk themed logo for the expansion where they add bards. ETC on the cover & the R in World is backwards.
