The other half of the map is part of the dungeon and you don't even bother with the upper left area in the map.

Aszuna is... kinda plain looking in terms of design, and there's like four different plots going on that aren't connected to each other. Like you have the Legion attacking from the left along with a demon hunter turned traitor, then you have the Blue Dragonflight and Senegos trying to add more minutes of his life while a Nightborne wants to drain his magical essence... then you've got this weird subplot about the Sea Giants abducting people and keeping them for pets to which you have to go deal.. then there's another subplot involving a pirate cove... and then there's the main plot which is focused on Farondis and the Naga breaching into the zone trying to find the Tidestone... (Again, all this clutter is excessive)

Finally Nazjatar, I don't hate this zone... It just wasn't designed with actual walking in mind... It felt more like it was designed specifically for swimming but with the Tidestone taking away the water it just makes it a nightmare to traverse on ground. (It gets awful when you have to do stuff in that one area in the upper left with all those spider looking crabs lurking and those giant Elite worm monsters.)
Agreed with the narrative of Azsuna being a convoluted mess. The Legion side of it just felt tacked on because it was a Legion expansion and the other zones only featured them minimally so they had to feature them somewhere.

The Sea Giant storyline just felt like a means to hint at Kul Tiras & Zandalar for the next expansion, which didn’t really need an entire chapter to imply it.

For narrative coherence, the main storyline of Azsuna should have been Azshara invading to claim the Tidestone but also joining forces with Prince Oceanus & and the sea giants, as well as playing on her ties to the Legion by having her make a bargain with one of the unused Dreadlords to join her forces with the Legion to work together to achieve their goals. We could have even got fel corrupted Naga. Then you just have Farondis teaming up with the blue dragonflight in opposition to them. That should have been the Azsuna campaign instead of the strange combination we got.

Also, shadowlands "ruined" many iconic characters like arthas, sargeras and, worst of all, sylvanas. It also ruined the concept of afterlife and its culture for most races. they also failed to create new interesting long lasting character. denathrius and iridikron are exceptions but they're villains. we have no varian or old syvlanas anymore.

p.s dragonflight made the aspects whiny bitches and robbed us of murozond. this is also bad
Lmao, Shadowlands didn't ruin Sylvanas, BFA did rape her character. Shadowlands actually did a great job cleaning up the mess left by Afrasiabi. But again, this isn't a thread to wine about past lore, or how classic+ would be so much better because you didn't like Shadowlands.

You can't replace iconic characters with new ones if you don't give them the proper build up. the jailer proved this. you can't replace sylvanas with jameson the freshly risen forsaken because no one gives a shit about him
Reboots are the worst thing that could ever happen to any franchise. There are literally 0 good reboot movies/shows out there, they all suck. If the old writing "sucks", why should a reboot writing suddenly get good oO?

Some newly created characters have been received pretty well.

Bwonsamdi and Rastakhan whilst not newly created for BfA, were used prominently for the first time there. Both were excellent additions and Rastakhan being killed off so early was a huge mistake.

Fyrakk is also a fantastic villain in DF and it’s a huge shame he’s likely to bite the bullet.

Xal’atath and Denathrius spring to mind too but outside of the above a lot of the other freshly created characters have either been huge misses or slightly underwhelming.

The idea with dragonriding seems to be that it is ok for us to move super fast as long as there is some form of gameplay tied to it. I'd guess the same would be true to mounted combat, ofc the issue is that while mounted movement is class agnostic, mounted combat is not. Mounted combat would absolutely fit the class fantasy of some classes while barely working for others.

love how you ignored everything else to make a point about sylvanas being only half and not fully ruined in shadowlands

also, while it might seem like i'm shilling classic+, i'm not. I don't want retail to die, but one has to recognize the pros of having a classic+ and also recognize that classic (classic+ or not) is part of the future of wow.

classic+ can definitely be a flop. blizzard knows that.

Or put another way, Anima Wyrm is the species, Ensorcelled Everwyrm was that specific individual.

I could see it fitting the class fantasy of more rather than less.

The idea of a mage shooting fireballs whilst riding a mount, or a warlock riding into battle whilst reigning down hellfire and summoning demons is a cool visual.

Though I admit it does visualise rather silly for say an evoker. I also can’t see how it would fit a rogue too considering the whole stealth aspect. Pistols? Shruikens?

I don't know, a reboot can work if it is its own thing..

Classic+, on the other hand, it would be difficult to manage that PLUS adding new content for Retail.. if both sides of the spectrum get "new original content" then it really will split the playerbase greatly.

Plus... I don't think the Classic crowd would like their game to go beyond Wrath. It's the whole, "there's no reason to go further, we're fine where we are," kind of attitude.

I mean evoker could work if it was flying combat but otherwise it's so weird. Evokers in general look weird on ground mounts. They are supposed to be their own mounts!

Honestly i would welcome new specs for older classes
before DF was revealed i had idea how to make every class technicaly only have 2 specs that would "branch" into two subspecs each via talents, but they kinda killed it with the talent trees they made

for example my sham was caster spliting into ele and resto and melee spliting into enha and tank "subspec"
