Yep. And they've made that mistake a lot. Either because they felt there was no way to properly fix what was already in place and so it was worth the retcon, or they didn't realise how badly they were breaking things. I would bet it's a mixture, but that they really felt they struck gold with the Jailer thing. I'm personally a fan of what they tried to do with the Jailer in terms of him being the link between the Legion and undeath, and being involved with Sylvanas ever since her jump off Icecrown. But the execution was lacking and it as all revealed too quickly with not enough build up or hinting. We knew something was wrong with the death realm all through BFA, but nothing about that hinted at an ancient plot that influenced so much. They should have narrowed the Jailer's influence on the biggest events and seeded his existence much earlier before using him.


Seriously though the payoff of seeing him activate the Forge of Souls, a previously completely unexplained machine, and using it to drill into Azeroth to funnel her soul to fuel his plan, was really cool. But he should have been linked to such a plot earlier than Shadowlands.

About the guard armors... we have updated Dwarf, Forsaken, Night Elf, and Blood Elf.

These races are the ones getting the most updated assets in the files, without buildings for dwarves/forsaken (dwarves may get new buildings through Khaz Algar). But maybe these are our first 4 races to get updated cities?

Amirdrassil might come with a new city, and we're getting a lot of SMC stuff including two new boats. Maybe they are going to try and get people out of SW and Org and update other cities instead? Or it's these ones + Storm and Org?

Draenei, Goblins, Tauren, Trolls and Gnomes will probably get screwed at this first pass unless they wait for everyone to get a city at the same time. Worgen are MIA but I think they will get Gilneas in a quest at least.

2.) HOTS has Warcraft + Starcraft content, already linking them

At this point its rather clear that 11.0 will not be a void expansion of any sort. More likely its going to be taking place on a new continent surrounded by storms, alongside Avaloren and Khaz Algar playing secondary roles.

That's a better way of framing it, I think. While present precedent suggests to me they'll frame it otherwise, it would be pretty good if it were framed that way.

And Battle for Azeroth had no old god plotlines. Oh wait. You can't dismiss anything when the expansion hasn't even been announced yet, because we don't know anything about it yet. Literally nothing is clear about what won't be in it. We only have hits of a few things that will be.

We got leaks of N'Zoth's influence before BFA was announced. There were some cultists datamined during Legion that had N'Zoth tentacles on their robes. N'Zoth and Azshara were also showcased at the announcement, and of course we saw both in the Warbringers cinematic.

That said, there's a vast difference between an expansion with old god influence, and an expansion with us going to K'aresh or some void world.

I wouldn't be surprised if "there is a secret world tree on backside of azeroth with an old god attached" was some old lore floating around at the time of Chronicle.

All the whisper stuff pointing to an underground tree is newer and makes a lot of sense to be written with that in mind, as there was no other relevant tree besides Amirdrassil.

Really, I have no idea. Hell anything is possible at this point.

Its just with many of these things that were made years ago have suddenly a link to current stuff. I just dont buy it they had this in mind back then.

A former Blizzard dev has said Metzen had been planning stuff with the Naaru/void since they were introduced in TBC. Obviously they didn't have the Jailer in mind back in WC3 (and have never claimed they did), but a random lil drawing hidden in a chronicles book is pretty believable.

Yes, guys, this story line goes back that far. Can you really believe that Metzen thought that far ahead? Well, he’s been planning this next expansion for a very, very long time.

Which, unrelated, is why I think people who expect Metzen to dial back the cosmic stuff is going to be disappointed.

I imagine the Original tree within the dream was not the problem. The problem was Alexstrasza bringing it into the realm of the living. The problem being the trees were intrinsically connected. Which was a big risk of corruption, but it was to plug up the Well of Eternity, an even bigger danger to the planet. Risk of Corruption aside the Dragons were really covering the Titan's asses when they made the well of eternity by accident.

So much would be solved if Zereth Ordos had send Aman'thul to a proper dermatologist instead of some aesthetician . . .

The thing that always bothered me was that forms of life were being developed on Zereth Mortis. If there's a Zereth Vitae, should that be what's being done there? But on a practical level I can see why they worked backwards. Here's my theory on the machinations of the First Ones:

First: Zereth Mortis. The Creation of Afterlives. First Created to veil the world of living from the dead. Earliest protoforms are developed, as well as the apparatus to implant them with anima, and implant world souls in the bodies of gods (The Sepulcher of the First Ones)
Second: Zereth Lumin. The Projector of Light. A cosmic canon that blasts the three layers of reality with light. The light allows the living to distinguish reality from illusion. This is where the Naaru were first designed.
Third: Zereth Umbra. The Well of the Mind. The necessary opposite to Zereth Lumin. The unknown inner workings of all life, and also what allows the material & immaterial to unmake itself. This is where emotion & thought originate from.
Fourth: Zereth Ordus. The Unseen Threads. Created to weave forces of energy throughout the universe without breaking down, which would eventually become known as the Arcane. And to create a barrier that would maintain linear time. This would be also be where the First Ones' shock troopers would be built, for the purpose of fending off anyone who tried to break down the First One's design in the realm of the living: The Titans.
Fifth: Zereth Tamult. The Prison of Disorder. The Architects of Entropy worked to create a system that could manage cosmic horrors that were incompatible with an ordered universe. Much like the pathways of magic & time, the "twisting nether" was meant to keep free radicals as far from the First Ones inner workings as possible.
Last: Zereth Vitae. The Incarnation of Life. Anima from the Great Cycle passes through here, where it is filtered to remove any detectable corruption before beginning the cycle of life again. This is where the Emerald Dream was invented.

Knowing the time when that was released, it will always feel a bit off for me. The problem with the jailer was that he was linked to so many things, that happened years ago, that felt bad.

I agree a small drawing is not that big of a deal and luckily its not linked to bunch of happenings in wow universe.
