That was my first thought, but raszageth's mount is listed by her name. Fyrakk isn't on there so yeah.

    ACTUALLY, yeah he is.

"Somn" for the SomnowlLoa is probably short for somnambulism, the term for sleepwalking. Given the whole Emerald Dream, a fitting name.

This is a nitpick in the grand scheme of things, but I hope that we're not getting another single compound word for the expansion name yet again. The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Warlords of Draenor, they're all so much more evocative and interesting than Shadowlands, Dragonflight, Voidstorm, Stormbreak, and so on.

I imagine the marketing idea behind it is to emphasize the expansion name over World of Warcraft, i.e. you talk about playing Dragonflight rather than playing WoW, but the names are just so boring. It also feels derivative of another big MMO's expansion naming convention, one that WoW probably doesn't need more comparisons to right now.

Smaller names are catchier and easier to remember. It may feel less grandiose but I think it plays well to modern marketing strategies. I really doubt the XIV thing is intentional when even ESO is doing it (Necrom)

Much simpler. Somnus is Latin for sleep. Somn-ambulism = sleep-walking

I think the Expansion title being "Storm Rider" is only about 1:2 at this point. There's still hope.

Don't think that's going away my dude. For exactly the reason you mentioned - marketing. You already have "World of Warcraft" in the title, so shortening makes sense, besides in the discord world, the spoken reference carries more weight than the abbreviation in chat. People just speak the abbreviation or a shortened version... The Burning Crusade "TBC", Wrath of the Lich King "Wrath", Warlords of Draenor "WoD". A single word is just more effective and punchier, and it's short enough the community at large doesn't develop their own short hand. Everyone says "Shadowlands" or "Dragonflight", even if its occasionally abbreviated on forums and in chat as SL/DF.

Necrom isn't a compound word, nor a real one. I didn't bring up Cataclysm and Legion for that reason, they're just singular words. Granted I don't think they're very exciting either, though Legion has some finality to it at least, but the idea of three expansions in a row copying XIV's consistent naming convention feels more unimaginative than anything.

Having "Storm" in it is probably nearing 100% though lol.

Whether it's ---storm like Voidstorm, or Storm--- like Stormbreaker, Stormchaser, Storm Rider, Stormhammer (thrall/shaman ref) etc... idk sounds good. Flood the social media with marketing language "A storm is coming".

I feel a dark horse name would be something thematic to the earth. Shattered, Fractured, Upheaval... something like that. Maybe playing into "secrets" or "lies" of the Titans written history.

The Stormstuff is why I would love it to be Earthbreaker, or something like that proposed title. Because it's WAY more in tune with Cataclysm.

World of Warcraft: Heroes of the Storm (They forgot they already used it)

    "Storms of Darkness"

Its actually the Bard Expansion but it is themed around the reunion of LV80ETC for the metal insertion that all the "WoW gone soft" wants.

I mean storms are metal, after all.
I no longer reply to quotations beyond if you're asking a genuine question or have a non-confrontational stance.

Even better then, I had forgotten that.

(Also I just like the word somnambulism)

Seriously, it's minor thing, but this thread would be a lot cleaner if people would do simple fact checks before they post and especially argue with someone.

Do the Dracthyr have animations for the “whirling surge” ability? The fancy spin one.

Would be dope if their flight was brought up to be in line with the rest of dynamic/ static flight once that’s expanded to the rest of the game.

What was the "Shadow of Azeroth" thing that was found in game files a while ago?
