The tweet was from 14th but he replied to himself on the 16th. Although it was just to clarify only the old models got animations at the time of his original tweet. Or as he put it that only the old models got the animations (for now). Given that it's a few months ago I'd expect that they must have updated the new ones by now but you never know until it's shown.

Yeah, could be, nothing pointing to that or against that right now, so we'll have to end up and see.

Because everyone else has been really insistent that those will be Gryphon related? Take that up with us because you know Teriz spent 100 pages saying "there's no evidence those are dwarf related."

People can speculate all they want as it is a speculation thread after all, I'm just saying to not state or imply things as facts when they're neither announced or confirmed through other means.

Assuming a "Algarian Stormrider" is a gryphon, an elemental or both is fine as it is still an assumption (as long as that is made clear).

Very different from replying "dragonriding with gryphons" when asked what we are being given in 10.2, which can start being picked up as misinformation and eventually disappointment if it's not coming.

Coming from the datamining community, this is a very important distinction that most dataminers have had to learn the hard way. I want to make sure that doesn't happen in here as well, because that'll just lead to disappointment, which sucks.

True, it is 100% speculation, but some is more logical then others.
I would say it is safe to not assume that a frost elemental will be called the "Storm rider"
Also that the frost elemental mount shown, is more likely the "Blizzcon" mount, speaking you know.

There is nothing currently connected to the gryphon texture as far as I have been able to see. References are either not in the game, encrypted, or otherwise obscured.

Except its not, cause why would they go through all this effort to have pathfinder, and allow normal flying in the dragon isles as an acheivement that needs to be unlocked, if they are just adding a toggle in the same patch, that they are for some reason keeping a secret?

Because a toggle would allow you to use your mounts that you already earned that are getting turned into dragonriding mounts as old flying mounts so you wouldn't lose anything. I strongly feel like they already talked about this in the abstract but I'm too lazy to search for it.

Not that texture. But apparently on the Heroic mount theres storm/wind/debris effect. So a swirling gale effect. Not unusual for a magical gryphon or elemental. Something wind-enchanted.

Because there are people who want normal flying is a possible explanation. Unlocking old mounts to dragonriding wouldn't matter as those players wanted old style which is getting unlocked with Pathfinder. (Didn't catch the original posts so I assume this is about adding pathfinder as a reason why unlocking dragonriding on other mounts will or won't happen)

* Eonar plants Elun'ahir in Avaloren
* It starts spewing out diverse life forms
* Aman'thul plucks it from the earth
* It leads to the destruction of a part of Avaloren in it's original form
* Aman'thul thinks the tree is gone, but the roots have survived. Eonar knows that.
* Eventually, shortly after the Titans left, fissures start to appear in Avaloren
* Odin sends Earthen to investigate
* Slowly, it turns out that the fissure is caused by the still-growing roots of Elun'ahir
* The anomaly is caused by the lingering essence of Elune
* The Earthen start to worship Elune and through the Curse of Flesh + Elune's essence they turn to wood instead of stone
* Odin sees it as a heresy, starts to send ships to fight them, but to no avail
* In effort to stop the spread of Elun'ahir roots and Elune's influence, Odin puts up the magical storms around the backside of Azeroth
* For some reason, at the end of Dragonflight "The Lord of Ravens will turn the key" and stop the magical storms
* We go there in 11.0. Iridikron and Xal'atath attempt to feed void and the Essence of Galakrond into the roots of Elun'ahir. By now they surely reach wide and deep, so they may be the best way to inject the entire planet with void.

Yeah, that's a really interesting way to connect of all the pieces we have now. Nice one!

That was a separately encrypted mount I refer to as "unknown mount A" that also has loose relatons to the Fyrn battle pet in asset use, as far as I can see it is separate from the heroic mount, but they could very well release at the same time as well.

No, what they spoke of was in 10.2 we are getting pathfinder, which will allow you to use your regular flying mounts in the dragon riding zones, but as normal flying, not dragon riding.

Agree with the last part. Seems that Odyn will do something that will make Avaloren reachable to lesser forces.

There is already normal flying coming in 10.2 with pathfinder
so why go through that trouble to also just add a toggle for dragon riding to normal flying?
and also keep that toggle secret?

Teriz literally made that same argument. The bit of contention was that people playing in the Dragon Isles would have access to a dragonriding mount almost immediately while the pathfinder achievement takes a very long time. I've been playing the entire expansion so far & I don't know a single person who has all four original reputations to renown level 20.

Since we don't know of a tree specifically named Elun'ahir, that suggests it's somewhere we haven't been. Or it got renamed. The point of that story seems to be 2-fold: 1.) an explaination for world trees existing that we don't have an origin story for, like the one in Valsharah. And 2.) that the Titans didn't plan for there to be world trees on Azeroth. The other Titans didn't know the roots were still growing when they left Azeroth.

I could have sworn there are flight paths in plains that use it as the default Flightpath taxi.
