I mean I am not denying that this whole "10.2 is the end" analysis through game files thing could be a deliberate bait by Blizzard for a specific audience that they knew would take this and run with it and then make them eat crow after Opening Ceremony.

Yeah sure, just like the Bolvar in Blue, Alextrasza and Dracthyr leaks were just baits, right?

Really, why should they waste any ressources to create bait shit instead of you know, real stuff for the game?

Yeah, that's key question how DF will be remembered, maybe in the past drought at the end was acceptable but I don't think it is anymore. Imo best scenario is 5-6 month S3, then half season for fated and release late Summer. Full fated season and November release will have mild response (also depends what we will see in 10.2.X patches). 2025 release is obviously wasting good reputation of DF support.

Few months ago we speculated that Fated could also come with new world content and next story chapter focused on retrieving Tyr's memory from Nighthold. Depends how long will it last I guess, probably if it's short we will just have story part as transition between 10.2 and 11.0. Also of course expect new M+ set (or maybe they just use 8 core DF dungeons together in single season, who knows), some small new mechanic for raids and faster gearing.

Seems like blizz is also realizing that leaving old content to rot with no updates is a bad idea because world gear is getting a buff.

If DF is just an expansion where they get base systems for the next chapter of the game's life down then its really good

I feel like if the game files are telling reality, the only real reason I can see this situation occurring is to push the game closer and closer every expansion to a annual release.

Otherwise this whole thing makes no legitimate sense to me as they are shooting their PR Strategy this entire expansion because they ran out of steam which in turn means that the sentiment they are sending to players is that if things get rough no matter what going forward and they have an excuse they will cut the product short. (Layoffs + WFH etc. etc. not withstanding to this equation.)



To be fair, they did let the PR and Marketing Team okay a 10.3 question for Morgan which contradicts the sentiments in the Gamespot Interview with Holly and Ion. Again, its a mess and disappointing that they could not keep the message straight.

The 10.3 question got a vague enough answer they can cover any criticism later

It will only be as good as the next expansion gets, based on what was set up from DF.
Hopefully it works out, but let's not forget that Legion seemed to set BfA up for a perfect knockout expansion, which was then completely squandered.

i think you can feed AI the Dragonflight logo to get the font of the text right.
but the rest looks too far of the base WoW logo. Even in the DF Logo you got many design elements of the base logo. This one has none

BfA will forever be my go-to example of how the conversation can get too tied up in the volume of content rather than quality. BfA had a lot to do at launch, it was a pretty meaty expansion, but it didn't matter because most of the systems were boring or outright unenjoyable. That effectively morphs it into a lack of content anyways because content not many people want to engage with has less value.

Obviously that's not a fun conversation to have because "can they create engaging content anymore?" is much more existential than "can they put out content fast enough?", especially when we're coming on a decade since WoD and there's only been one expansion that's been widely accepted as a win since then.

I think the 2 expansion link is an improvement over unconnected themes and helps with hype. I didn't care for SL despite the BfA follow up but I think that's because those expansions are the ego expansions from blizz trying to force enjoyment despite the feedback

There's no AI currently in existence that will get the text that right, kerning and all. If AI was used it might have been to get some 3D shapes in the background, but this looks handmade to me.

I could see 24 weeks of S3, 12-16 weeks of fated season, 2-3 weeks of pre expansion events. Which leads to an expansion release in August or early September.

Uuuuh, this one is pretty clean. Name doesn't fit the aesthetics tbh, Stormbreaker doesn't go well with Old God theme, but if the name was different, I'd be pretty hyped up.

The subtitle font quality is really what's almost always somehow off, and here, it's top notch.

I dunno, I'm looking at that logo the same way I looked at that Alexstrasza poster or Bolvar screenshot... it seems too well made for a rogue troll to put together. Even taking AI into consideration. Either an extremely skilled 3D artist/visual designer decided to troll, or we have a real leak.

I'll say though, there was one that was this good previously - anyone remember 5.5 Skysunder, which either turned out to be fake or a real patch that was scrapped and something got out.
