Not saying it's necessarily going to be a pirate/seafaring themed expac, but I think there is some circumstantial evidence indicating this Stormbreaker leak is real.

1) I think it's highly unlikely someone randomly pulled Carrack Escort out of their ass to build hype around their leak. Most would not recognize a carrack without Googling it. I think the leak being real is a much simpler explanation.

2) The Waveborne Diplomat’s Regalia and Solemn Watchman's Garb are both nautical themed. The Solemn Watchman's Garb is less obviously so, but I think it resembles a conquistador or nautical explorer's armor. They were also both pretty random inclusions, and they don't give off the same "rule of cool" vibe as other shop transmogs (especially the Solemn Watchman) so I have a feeling their assets may be used in the next expac, or Blizz is hoping they sell better once it is revealed they are themed to the next expac.

3) If Wrath -> Shadowlands and Cataclysm -> Dragonflight it's time for MoP -> ?

The Wondrous Wavewhisker mount is 100% going to be reskinned and used in the next expansion, and I suspect it is going to be a Jinyu mount. I get that it's used in 10.2, but Blizzard would never invest that amount of art resources into a shop mount that is only going to be used in 1 zone in Dragonflight.

This same pattern is true for the following shop mounts:

Heart of the Aspects released in Cata -> assets used in Mop
Dread Raven, Iron Skyreaver, and Enchanted Fey Dragon released in MoP -> assets used in WoD
Mystic Runesaber released in WoD -> assets used in Legion
Vulpine Familiar and Sylverian Dreamer released in BFA -> assets used in Shadowlands
Sapphire Skyblazer and Nether-Gorged Greatwyrm released in Shadowlands -> assets used in Dragonflight

I think it is a very safe bet that the Wavewhisker assets will be used in the next expansion. Whether that's indicative of a water-themed expansion is another story.

Also, as far as the globe on the leaked logo goes, it could just be in midanimation (spinning). Maybe they animated it to pop in this time. Maybe the whole world is underwater? Who knows?

All just speculation obviously, but I think a pattern is forming.

Since nobody seems to be interested in a separate thread about 11.0 predictions, I'll just hijack this one.

I'm pretty happy with my predictions from last leak season:



So here are my 11.0 predictions:

The name of the expansion wont be a single word, like Dragonflight and Shadowlands.

Thrall will be back to play some part in the story. I also expect to see Xal'atath, Azshara and even Sylvanas at some point(Clash of the Queens?).

There will be some sort of partial, limited, world revamp or at the very least the expansion will be laying the groundwork for future major revamp.

There will be player housing.

There will be a new race, probably something "bulky", perhaps some variation of the "swole" dragonkins.

Dracthyrs will be getting a lot of new customization. For instance, more playable races available as visage forms and more gear visible in combat.

There will be no completely new class.

There will be new specs added to existing classes. Most likely support ones, similar to Augmentation for Evoker. I think they'll be shipped in batches, few per expansion- first batch(11.0) will be for classes that go all the way back to vanilla WoW, my bet is on Mage, Rogue and Shaman.

I also think that we'll finally be getting "class skins", or at least a spell/ability customization similar to green fire for Warlocks, but on much larger scale.

New battleground is also in order, I bet.

And last, but not least, I think that we'll see a system with player power related AP grind make a comeback.

No chance of Sylvanas showing up again in a prominent role anytime soon. I can't imagine we'll see any serious Sylvanas content for a good couple expansions.

Thrall is very likely to return. He's a big Warcraft character to generate hype, and Metzen is back.

World Revamp I don't think is happening this time round. For my money the likely option is Avaloren backed up by either South Seas/Seafaring and an underground expansion as the two other likely options.

New class I agree. I think we'll get some new specs for certain classes but not all. For some reason I can't help but think; Rogue (Bard, Support), Warrior (Gladiator or Commander, Support), Shaman (Earthwarden, Tank), Mage (Time or Blood, Healer).

Class Skins are definitely a possibility, but I think they're most fitting for a World Revamp expansion.

Player Housing I don't think will happen until World Revamp.

Agree with race. I think Ogres are a very real possibility. Broken in some form, whether as customisation or Allied Races. I have a sneaking suspicion that Halflings may finally show up. Vrykul's are possible too. Jinyu are also likely. I'd love a more humanoid, practical ape like race to scratch that itch instead of Hozen.

We've not had a BG since Legion, I don't expect one to come now. Especially with the HvA conflict on the back burner.

No borrowed power, I think that's a relic of the past.

And this is preciesly what should even be increasing the credibility of work - no one putting so much effort into an that realistic and believable art would eventually fck it up so bad by simply going for a different eyes color. Back then, the argument for Bolvar being fake was so weak

If that leak is real, I think carrack escort is the name of the transmog set.

It could match that "conquistador" theme of the store transmogs that are suspected to be discarded designs.

They could easily go the SW:TOR route and make a bg that's actually based on sports. Huttball was hugely fun back when it came out, and they could easily reskin the concept based on goblins vs gnomes in Gadgetzan. Basically warcrafts answer to Bloodbowl!

If people find it fun, they could even reskin the pit with different zones/traps etc. and have the game move between towns during seasons.

Something that never made it out of concept phase can't make a return lol. Also they wouldn't use the same name just to point out that they scrapped another feature in the past.

Or in worst case D3's paragon .... na, I don't think we need an ap grind anymore. Why would you take the worst thing from the artifacts system, instead of the best part (the appearance customization system, and even that had the huge problem that suddenly, they couldn't really give you the weapons of bosses anymore although that's prolly the best part about the whole game lol?).

I heard from a close source at blizzard that the next expansion will be called World of Warcraft: Chronicles of Elyria. They have bought out the rights for this not too long ago behind closed doors. There isnt more he could give me for the moment but more is coming soon.

I disagree about the BGs and the HvA conflict.

If anything, getting rid of the factions conflict unties their hands and lets them do whatever they want with the presumable new battlegrounds.

You want CTF with 3 teams? There you go. You want map domination with 4 teams consisting of 5 people each? Be my guest.

There are so much more possibilities now that they don't have to build the new battlegrounds around two teams only.

And just imagine the wonders this will do to random bg queue times.
