The War Within 11.X Patches & World Soul Saga Speculation Thread

This isn't the first time they are announcing an expansion before the final patch releases.

Famously the Cata reveal (Aug 2009) was before the ICC release (December 2009).

Due to popular demand (1 person asked about it), I've tried to put together a leak spreadsheet for 11.0 to continue with the trend of making one of these for every season since 2019.

It's basically a carbon copy of last year's leak spreadsheet so it's a bit messy-looking and there may be columns (like the one for "Player Housing") that don't make sense to have anymore (since it doesn't seem like this massive hyped feature this time around.)

If anyone has any ideas about which new columns to include, or which ones to remove, I'm all ears. And if you find that I've missed a leak or made an error somewhere, feel free to tag me or DM me to let me know.

Okay, so this sort of straw-graspy speculation is not something I'm normally interested in, but in this case I wanted to see what the community thoughts were because it's at least grounded in some concrete details.

In the BlizzCon store there are three hockey jerseys: one for Diablo, Overwatch, and WoW. The number on the Overwatch jersey is 2 and the number on the Diablo jersey is 4. Both of these are for pretty obvious reasons. The number on the WoW jersey is also 4. Was this number deliberately chosen in the same way it was for OW and Diablo? I think naturally it would lead to speculation on Warcraft 4, but I'm personally not convinced that Warcraft 4 is ever going to happen. Are there any other reasons the WoW jersey would represent the number 4, assuming that number was chosen for a deliberate reason?

Imo at least this time, although story is less interesting than any expansion with bigger stakes, they do a good job with adding new story content regularly, sometimes even randomly in the middle of patch, so on average it progress every 1-2 month. They already tried to do more story content in Shadowlands, but patches were so far apart we completely lost any sense of continuity.

It's completely opposite to second part of Legion where story was extremely interesting (arguably most important events in whole Warcraft so far), but story content outside raids was.. Broken Shore intro and 3 chapter Argus story.

In general I hope next expansion will be: going full account-wide + same structure + more interesting theme + 1-2 completely new activities like housing.

I think its time every patch have a Suramar level of story. By quantity and quality.

While we are investigating the Blizzcon Merch. One thing i noticed is that we got Merch with the "Main" Logos of the Games at Blizzcon, hinting at no additional IP/Game reveal (they would surely reveal a blizzcon tshirts with a new icon after the reveal when there is something more coming, no?=

And, there is a starcraft tshirt with Zergling Rush. Hmmmmm

In light of the confirmation that 10.2 will release after Blizzcon, is anyone concerned at the idea of Blizz showcasing a new expansion when we haven't even seen how 10.2 ends? Do you think that 10.2’s ending doesnt roll into the story for 11.0? Or will Blizzcon just basically spoil the ending of 10.2?

We essentially know what 10.2 is. We're going to try to save Amirdrassil and take down Fyrakk. Without seeing any cinematics or anything, it's pretty obvious we will succeed at both tasks. And, correct, I don't think 10.2 will roll over into 11.0. That's why I said anything past 10.2 will be self-contained for Dragon Isles. Epilogue type stuff. Iridikron is almost definitely a direct throughline to 11.0, like Sylvanas was from 8.2.5 to 9.0

Algalon was first mentioned in a drop in Kara at the end of BC. If they're doing more Titan stuff, there could be room to tie it in.

I think he means he was at the start of DF, but we never saw him again after Azure Span questing.

I hope we see Medivh soon just for the inclusion of more Khadgar.

God, I hope that one line of dialogue to Jaina at the end of Shadowlands turns into nothing, I'd hate to lose Khadgar as a character. He and Illidan made Legion phenomenal in my opinion.

That being said, I think there is something that was cut out from DF with Khadgar, or a thread dropped early in development. The Kirin Tor being involved in Azure Span with him and Kalec makes sense, but after Vault he's just gone. I don't know if he serves the story of DF any longer, but I hope he's involved in 11.0.

If we got a single player story driven warcraft game, RTS or not, I'd freaking lose my mind. In a good way. The best way.

The anniversary is next year though, so if the 04 means anything I think it's more likely that it's an homage to the old days (Classic +?) and not related to a mere anniversary.

Good point, but basically everything WoW-related they're announcing is going to be slated for a 2024 release so it sort of makes sense.
