I dont know why people believe that Cata and some kind of "Classic+" version are mutually exclusive. I'm not even sure the audience overlaps much there..

Anyway 1.15 has been on their internal branches since April and at the moment is getting like 2-3 updates per week so you will definitely see something "bigger" for Vanilla at Blizzcon. I wouldnt expect anything super massive but given the unusual amount of time this has been on encrypted branches and the fact that they are updating it like 2-3x a week at the moment(on 2 different branches interestingly enough) I'd guess its definitely of larger scope than SoM was.

I agree with a lot of what you said. I still think its a solid average expansion. Not bad just bad aspects. At least it had a lot of content. BFA with better class design and less bloated systems would gave been enough to make it an above average expansion. They had a lot of solid ideas with poor execution in bfa. The concept of azerite armor is even cool just poorly implemented and clunky.

Man, I can't believe this thread is losing steam the closer to BlizzCon we get.

We need a new controlled leak!

Marlamin, what are you sitting on? Spill your secrets, birb.

Three different versions of WoW running at the same time is kind of crazy and would just split and shit up the community's already dwindling numbers even further.

I'm not saying the Outland looked homogeneous, but yeah, I think there was a very strong theme of "twisted remains of a planet that exploded into the Twisting Nether"

But then you add a bunch of nonsense on top of that. World events coming in hot left and right, world quests, Fyrakk, etc., etc. You're kept so busy all the time, everywhere, you never have the time to just chill. At least that's how I feel about it.

Almost makes me want to consider dropping all the hectic content and just focus on like... pet battles, gathering and stuff like that.
Yeah DF has a ton of events but non enough chill content. What DF is missing is content like the tillers in MoP.

Outland is so bad by modern standards that they had to close the BC servers for Classic.

We just need the Blizzard employees to finally be allowed to leak some stuff.
The world revamp dream will never die!

I am surprised we don't have as many fake leaks anymore.

It just means when the real leak hits we'll dismiss it.

Yeah, but Classic doesn't always get everything right... and even has some (but not a lot) of deviation from the original. They can't bring in cut-content or too much new material... but choosing not to nerf Cata dungeons would be a good thing and even improve the expansion a little bit so that people won't be hard-focused on raiding.

Especially if they don't nerf the heroics and include the Titan Rune dungeon system; which would make dungeons even harder than they were originally, and nothing wets a Classic player's appetite more than harder content. (Case in point, Hardcore realms)

There should always be a strong concept behind a continent, instead of it being just a collection of random biomes that honestly don't even belong together. Looking back at the expansions:
Vanilla - many different biomes but grouped in a rather believable way.
TBC - many different zones, but with a common theme of "alien world destroyed by fel"
Wrath - the North! it's cold, and its snowy!
Cata - random collection of zones, but they were also wadded in believable places on a map
    MoP - China
WoD - zones are rather random, but theres still a strong theme of "Outland before it became Outland" so it gets a pass
Legion - no very strong theme. You could say that four of the zones are Elf-aligned, but it comes up only in architecture and stories. Two other zones feel completely unrelated to the main theme.
BfA - two islands, both of them fairly consistent in their theming. Good job.
Shadowlands - although the zones are different realms of Death, they look like a random selection of areas in a theme park. Not great.
Dragonflight - the biggest "theme" i could find here is how vast the zones are... and that's about it.

Regardless of the quality of expansions themselves, to me the two most "forgettable" continents are Broken Isles and Dragon Isles. They just feel like a collections of zones smashed together, not like an actual place. On the other hand, the continents I remember the most fondly are the ones qith a strong theme behind them - Northrend, Pandaria, Outland, or even BfA zones.

I just hope the Avaloren will not be just a random mashup of generic zones filling the snow / desert / forest / jungle quota, but instead it will feel like an actual place.
While I think the devs could be more creative when designing zones, they also should be more varied. Who cares if Legion's zones didn't have a distinct theme, the theme of a Demon Invasion was the most successful theming they've ever aspired to. Not to mention many people would call Suramar the best zone in the game, ever.

True, they really undercut their promise Dragonflight crafting "would be able to make the strongest gear in the game" if you need mats from non-crafting content.

I like how MOP is listed as China when there's an entire zone about talking evil bugs.

Also Wrath is definitely theme park, Borean Tundra is basically Disneyland.

I think pretty much everyone agrees with that. Finish BfA by giving us another faction war raid and maybe the third Warfront that was in the works then do an N'zoth expansion. I've given my idea on how the Nyalotha expansion could be done; do 8.3 in a much larger scale using Visions as an expansion system and visually updating multiple zones and placing storylines there. And make it HURT. Show N'zoth being a threat by doing damage and killing people.

I swear, if we get something like bards before Tinkers, devs clearly hate the IP they’re developing for. Or simply have no passion for what is Warcraft.

This is the hottest hot take I've ever heard. Tinkers are in the game as Engineers. Bards are in the game but not playable at all.
