I think people need to stop comparing DF to disney, because disney characters are more memorable than DF ones.

DF writers probably think that resident evil series on netflix was the best thing ever.

I mean, sure that's fair. Not everyone likes every expansion. I think Wrath of the Lich King is fairly overhyped thematically. I know people who like the basics and thematics of Shadowlands. People who hated TBC because it's too high tech.

    It is what it is.

I personally don't think that wow has the setting to tell "good stories". Maybe in the the small quests this can happen. Not in the main quests. Whenever they try this we end up in some weird cutscenes like the ones with Akextrasza and Vyranoth. Also teaching us humanism is the only possible answer in almost any quest or friendship is magic because killing is bad is ofc correct IRL but I just don't want to have those kind of conversations in a video game, especially not in the main storylines. To each their own I guess, but IMO Warcraft is best when it's polemic, cliché American entertainment.

In terms of theme: Why not both? It's not like you have to just stick to one. Constant facesmashing hardcore action will get boring just like a story which is only filled with solemn beats.

The dwarf-dragon-quest or the old dragonmaw-orc quest were celebrated by many, and rightfully so. They were great one-offs which brought something unique in the game. The main issue is, that DF is missing something on the other end of the spectrum: Cool, animated large scale dragon fights and a sense of urgency.

I personally didn't like the WoD setting, but the intro quests were very entertaining and well thought through. Garrisons were also very half cooked, players wanted housing, not solo instances that all look the same

Once again half the story is in a novel. Finally we learn what the Drakonids are. Apparently in an expansion when they are half the NPCs it was not important enough to have that part in the game . . .

Also this two tier dragon society seems like a copy from Eberrons' Argonessen.

Even CATA is what WARCRAFT is about. Brought most beautiful landmass. Has some really, REALLY dark fantasy in it (Vashjir, Deepholm, Twilight Highlands....)

Compare Grim Batol to Stormstout (w/e spelling) Brewery dungeons. And you will see why MoP (and potentially 6.0) sux and has nothing to do with WARCRAFT FRANCHISE (not saying that we solely need WARCRAFT.... but WARCRAFT-TASTE)
The guy you’re quoting has some questionable opinions(which he is entitled to) but your responses to him are just immature and just aren’t funny. I’m not sure what you’re hoping to achieve but I’m sure no one aside from you and him wants to read this immature, unfunny exchange. It’s not serving the purpose of the thread to discuss upcoming content and it’s just painful to read at this point.

I’m still firmly on board of believing it’s Avaloren next. I’m not sure why people are using the “hinted in one expansion, just to be used in the one following the next expansion” argument. That’s only ever happened once with BfA referencing the Dragon Isles and hasn’t happened in any expansion prior; so it’s again just people seeing patterns that aren’t there.

Every expansion from Cata onwards has very overtly led into the next expansion.

    Cats > MoP > WoD > Legion > BfA > SL

The only outlier is SL leading into DF but BfA began seeding DF so the Dragon Isles didn’t just come out of nowhere as there would be very little to setup or the Dragon Isles whilst we were in SL. And even then, we had the subtle hint in Zereth Mortis where that construct spoke every cosmic force language as well as Draconic.

Which is how every other expansion was hinted prior to Cata. In TBC we had several Arthas hints and in Wrath we had several Deathwing hints. They weren’t explicitly stated but in hindsight you can see they were there.

Because reminder, Domination wasn't the Jailer's only factor. During the fight, he was clearly displayed to be a fucking monster physically.
We really shouldn't have defeated him. He was too powerful. He never should have been a boss we faced practically alone. With other cosmic leaders? Sure. Not alone. They really screwed up with SL. It had and till has amazing potential but it was rushed and undercooked.

WoW hardly ever sticked to one, the problem with current game is that it lost its balance.

They went from one extreme with SL to another extreme that flows in only one direction.

We always had badass action overlaped with sad moments but very epic and memorable at the same time, we also had in the same soup almost some fanfic crazy moments that on paper would sound bad, but actually ended up awesome like illidan cutscene, many people memed the "i am my scars" stuff, but it was just very fitting and powerful line for that character if you think about it.

With DF i constantly feel when it comes to main story and cutscenes between main characters that it's much more depressing than SL when it comes to pure emotion, but the feeling itself just falls flat because how overdone it is and how they just don't work because the writing itself also falls flat.

I don't think she will. I do like her as a character, and I think it makes a lot of sense for her to join us. Just not this soon. She went from wanting to kill us all to wanting to be our best friends in the span of a week.

I think for now she would be best as a neutral opportunistic ally. Friendly enough terms, but definitely not a trusted leader or advisor.

Not sure what Disney films you’ve been watching so this seems rather hyperbolic. At a push you could possibly say it has a similar vibe to The Black Cauldron but even that is a stretch.

    I actually agree with this....to a point.

See, I actually think the dwarf-dragon and the dragonmaw orc quest were well done. The execution deserves to be celebrated by many.

But I violently reject the idea behind the story. I find it offensive on a level that's hard to put into words, and much of that is because it feels less like a character in a story doing a bad thing, and more like the author trying to tell the reader whats right and wrong.

But honestly, this is getting a bit heavier than I intended, I still very much enjoy most of Dragonflight, and I try to not let my own bias influence how I react or absorb a story.

So, you know, just because I have an issue with it I certainly understand and appreciate people who may view it otherwise

The cinematic was nice and flashy, but orcs didn't drink demon blood? Wtf? Early ingame quest has horde players going to Demon Falls Canyon to honor Grommash and his sacrifice that broke the blood curse that came with drinking demon blood. WoD should have changed that to urinating on the monument there.

Reading that brought that back to mind. It would make sense too as a big nostalgia hit for the anniversary and allow them to develop even more assets to use for an EK/Kalim revamp.
Imagine if they surprise us and revamp not only EK and Kal, but Northrend too.

Even worse. DF had the selling point of a new class and race and a complete rework of all classes with the new talent tree system and dragonriding.

    What is his selling point?
    - A new spec (we got a new class with 2 specs with DF launch and and extra one with a patch later)
    - Shaman for all (we had 3 of that in DF with mages, rogues and priest)
    - A new race (we got that with DF)

It feels more like a DF patch content than a full expansion.

Something tells me Khaz Algar will be located west of northern Kalimdor specifically.

We've got two titan facilities on or around the Eastern Kingdoms: Uldaman in the south and Uldorous in the north.
There are a couple in the middle of the map, ranging from Ulduar and Uldis in Northrend, to Uldir in Zandalar.

But on Kalimdor, we've only got Uldum in the south. Nothing in the north.

So there were Titan facilities erected with relative proximity to the known Old Gods and their domains in the Black Empire, spread out fairly evenly across ancient Kalimdor. But not in the northwest for some reason.

Now, what's up there? We know the Old Gods had a presence, because there are remnants of old monstrosities in Darkshore for example. But interestingly enough, apart from Neptulon's domain being up there, there doesn't seem to be an Old God ruling over this part of Kalimdor.

    https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Bla...ap_Overlay.png

If anything, it kind of looks like the influence of Yogg-Saron, C'thun and Y'shaarj converge at that point. Were they all involved in ursurping another Old God there, perhaps? With that Old God gone, did the Titans not deem it worthy to erect any additional facilities to watch over that land?

Interestingly, the 5th Old God is depicted as a sort of Old God of Life and Death in Chronicles art. What do we know is in the northern part of Kalimdor? Well, the world tree Nordrassil, Darkshore with its iconic dark version of Elune, among other things. There must be a reason why Cenarius would hang out there in ages past, and why Nordrassil was planted there, surely.

Could it be that northern Kalimdor is where many events took place in ages past, involving Xal'atath, Elune, etc?

And could Khaz Algar be a section of that region which broke off from ancient Kalimdor during the Sundering?

If so, we've got a lot of themes converging there:

    - Dark Moon / Elune
    - Dragonriders of Bashal'Aran
    - Mysterious dead Old God colossus on the shores of Darkshore
    - Neptulon's domain, and a big Naga presence
    - World Tree(s)
    - Absence of Titan influence
    - Potential dead 5th Old God

The storms of the west might originate from there, or perhaps Odyn created them as an artificial barrier to just seal that part of the world off.
So if you fly west from Teldrassil (RIP), you eventually encounter stormy weather, and within it Khaz Algar. If you fly even further west, you exit the storm on the other side of Azeroth.

I mean, WoD being both kinda heavy metal and dealing with trauma is I think part of the good balance.

Because it had long been established by the time WoD came out that Grom and his sacrifice over the Demon Blood was also a symbolic victory. It had long been established by that point that it wasn't the demon blood that made the Orcs act the way they acted. Hell, Grom himself admitted as much in WC3.

There were examples of Orcs in the lore (I want to say the manga, but honestly I'm a bit sketchy on the exact details after so long) that drank the demon blood and still didn't participate because it was wrong.

That was part of the point of WoD. As heavy metal as it was, it was a blatant admission and confrontation of the fact that it was never the demon blood, and always the Orcs. This is part of the reason Thrall walked away a broken man.

At most i hope it won't be a new playable race but customization for dwarfs, if it will end up being available for us.

third dwarf race but elemental is kinda meh for me personally, but if expansion preorder mount will end up as elemental x then i guess chances for this are raising.

Still not taking this "leak" very seriously, but in desperate times with hardly any new leaks, you gotta take what you get.
