How many real life wars do you know of where the winners just go "okay now don't do it again or next time I'll be really mad!"? It was already known that giving Germany so much shit after they lost in World War 1 was just gonna make things worse in the long run but winners like to punish losers. The Horde helped the Alliance kill their own warchief because the Horde was also mad at said Warchief. The Horde didn't step in and save the Alliance, making them indebted to them or anything. Varian risked a lot of lives, for no gain to his people, by letting them off with zero consequences. And Blizz tried to spin it as an Alliance victory moment, even claiming afterward that the Alliance is now the more powerful faction and all that. It was pointless because it was an empty threat and there was nothing in game to show the Horde as being underdogs again after their massive civil war. They would have been better off not having Varian say that at all.
