Nope. Nothing is going over my head.
If Avaloren is going to be a whole new continent it won't be a part of 10.3 it will be an expansion. And if its just a "new world" with 3 sub zones then that is just awful and a waste.
Blizzard has stopped doing that many raid tiers as well and it's quite obvious that 10.2 is the final major patch of DF. Avaloren will be a bug brand new thing not a content patch. I do not understand why people still think 10.3 is a thing.
It's consistently been 3 raid tiers per expansion, Tier 1 at the base, Tier 2 in a .1 patch and a Tier 3 in a .2 patch. Amidrassil is the last raid tier.
10.2.7 will most likely be the last and will feature Season 4 with fated raids similar to Shadowlands.
I hate it when people use fomo as an excuse to keep things around. FOMO is literally a problem of the person, not of the product, and those who dedicate time to earning something before it goes away (World 1st for example) deserve to be able to have bragging rights of their dedication & persistence to a product, rather than it being candy given out to everyone because "fomo"
I was right about blizzard's proposed Diablo 4 "expansion" would probably just be a paid new class & new actual content would be done as a free update tied to seasons and not a conventional expansion. If it is going to be more than that then the release panel & the Q&A panel would be two different events at Blizzcon.
Yes it is going over your head.
If they add a new landmass as a .3 patch (similar to how they did with Argus) that exists ON AZEROTH, that is not a part of the "DRAGON ISLES" then it would be canonically a new continent, not a "new world" not a "new zone" not a new anything but "continent" since it's not anywhere near Dragon Isles.
They won't really have to, so long as they don't want each and every zone to be unique and self contained. They might have to change how the maps work though, to give players a better sense of what is going on in adjacent zones.
But just in terms of actual movement, no. The continents are already the right size. It's just the individual zones that are really small compared to what we have.
The world revamp dream will never die!
I think they can use extensively unused Mountain Ridges and Coastal Lines to increase the size without changing the shape of the locations

2 main zone patches will be the new normal from here on out. They likely ran the numbers and saw that not enough people sub in the last year of an expansion for it to be profitable, and "just make better expansions lol" isn't as feasible as just making shorter expansions.
BFA had 4 different raids (actually 4 regular sized raids & 1 mini raid) corresponding to 4 seasons. Legion the tiers didn't correspond to seasons but it had 3 regular sized raids & 2 "mini" raids. I think Shadowlands only had a fated raid because of Covid. And even then, including 10.2, Dragonflight has a lot less raid encounters total than Shadowlands. I think Fated is only something they'd do if something goes seriously wrong in development.
